The Finance team’s mission is to protect and serve Canva and its key stakeholders; that is protecting Canva from external pressures and risks whilst balancing the need to best serve our teams. The mission of the Corporate Accounting team is to ensure that financial information withstands external scrutiny in compliance with all local regulations and standards. We are the gatekeepers of externally reported financial information and as the Canva business grows, we are exposed to a broader range of accounting regulations and reporting requirements. We currently have team members in Sydney and Manila and are looking to continue scaling the team! With expanding operations across the world in multiple jurisdictions, we need a Consolidation Lead who can build on our group consolidation processes and execute systems and process improvements that will scale with the growth of the business.

Canva is looking for a Group Reporting and Consolidation Lead to work with the Corporate Accounting team and expand our Consolidation function. This is a highly visible role that will work closely with other team leads within Finance, and execute directly on deliverables for Finance Leadership and external stakeholders

  • You will have strong experience in preparing consolidated statutory accounts within a complex, global corporate structure. You have a keen eye for detail and thrive on process development and executing improvement at scale. 
  • You will have a solid technical background and know how to operate and be successful in a high growth environment. You have a passion for problem solving and dealing with ambiguity, willing to get your hands dirty when needed.
  • You have great interpersonal and communication skills are first class, allowing you to collaborate across functions and teams. 
  • You enjoy managing projects and rallying the team towards achieving its goals.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Lead the Consolidation function within the Corporate Accounting team as well as working closely with other teams such as the GL team, Commercial Finance, Shared Services, Planning & Reporting and Tax. 
  • Executing the strategy to take the Consolidation function from annual consolidation for statutory reporting to monthly consolidated financial statement close
  • Identifying and resolving any issues with the consolidation process in compliance with statutory reporting requirements 
  • Implementing process improvements within consolidation processes that scale with the growth of the business
  • Be the gatekeeper of the monthly consolidated financial statements, managing multiple jurisdictions, GAAPs and teams 
  • Ensure robust processes and controls are maintained and improved over time

What we're looking for:

  • 5+ years of relevant experience with a number of years in consolidation and group reporting in an environment with a large, complex corporate structure 
  • Practical experience in implementing systems and processes in the preparation of statutory accounts under IFRS (US GAAP would be a bonus)
  • CA/CPA qualified or equivalent qualification;

We’d also love if you had:

  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Professional experience in a similar industry or high growth company
  • Experience with Cloud ERPs such as Netsuite.
