Product Design at Canva
One of the principles of our design team is to ‘show the future’. As designers we transport the rest of the company into a future we’re yet to build. A big part of the role of a product designer at Canva is to be a visionary—visualising and reinventing the future of design.
Product designers at Canva take the dream and make it something everyone can relate to and rally behind. We start from the very early stages: finding the right problem to tackle, exploring ideas for how to solve it and then refining it into a coherent solution. Our product designers work closely with our engineers, data scientists, SEO specialists and product managers to ship great products, employing your research, brainstorming, sketching, and prototyping skills. We are empathetic user advocates and respect our users’ opinions through interviews, usability testing, and data analysis, as well as wireframing, flowcharting, and journey mapping to show the different stages that customers go through as they come into contact with Canva.
About the group and team
Our mission in the User Group is to create confidence in every Canva moment. To fulfill our mission, we have two groups of users to consider; users of Canva products and our internal Canva teams. For Canva users, we create confidence by creating world-class help & support experiences, as well as account and profile security initiatives. For our internal users, we build confidence by providing the tools and insights they need to make decisions and to improve Canva’s products.
As a designer in our group, you’ll be helping millions of users get access to the right support at the right time. You’ll be helping users to get the most out of Canva and, importantly, to quickly and easily recover if they get stuck. Additionally, you’ll lead initiatives that not only help our users, but also help inform the decision-making of teams across every part of Canva; delivering meaningful insight about where, when, and why users experience issues across our product.
Help & support, especially at scale, is an incredibly complex problem space. As a designer in our group, you’ll be essential in bringing clarity and simplicity to everything we do both for our users and for our internal teams.
