FP&A Analyst - Revenue

The Finance team’s mission is to protect and serve Canva and its key stakeholders; that is protecting Canva from external pressures and risks whilst balancing the need to best serve our teams. The vision Is for Canva to be recognised and commended by its peers and stakeholders as having a world-class finance team.

The mission statement of the Planning & Reporting team is to be the guardians of the Canva 12 month rolling forecast and all financial reporting & associated processes. As the Canva business grows, there is an increasing need to understand Canva’s revenue intimately, specifically understanding the levers between Annual Recurring Revenue (a non-accounting metric) and recognised revenue. There is now a need for a Revenue Analyst to assist with the planning, forecasting, and analysis of revenue & gross margin at Canva. 

Reporting to the FP&A Manager - Reporting (located in Sydney HQ) this role will be an integral part of the Planning & Reporting team and will be responsible for leading recognised revenue & margin forecasting, analysing performance, and supporting external and internal reporting. In addition, you will help drive and deliver forecasting and planning activities that support decision making in respect to revenue and margin, variance analysis and the design & build of management reporting/dashboards. This position is a fantastic opportunity to make a positive impact on Canva’s revenue forecasting and analysis.

The primary responsibility of the Revenue Analyst will be to manage the planning, forecasting, and analysis of accounting revenue & gross margin at Canva. This includes:

  • Play a leading role in understanding the key drivers of revenue & margin and the impact this would have to forecasts
  • Own/evolve a bottoms-up forecast model to break down underlying drivers, measure and understand variance in actuals vs. forecast, and ultimately improve forecast accuracy
  • Partner with Finance Business Partners and Strategy & Analysis to understand impacts to revenue as a result of on-going initiatives/experiments
  • Create & enhance automated reporting/dashboards to provide visibility into the performance of revenue for Finance leadership
  • Investigate and interrogate existing business data to find correlations, merge insights and build datasets for reporting
  • Drive operational efficiency with a continuous focus on data quality and process improvement
  • Strong self-management skills with demonstrated ability to prioritise under tight deadlines
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong relationships with your multiple stakeholders

What we are looking for:

  • Degree in Accounting/Finance with minimum CA or equivalent, or proven solid experience in a similar role
  • 3+ years relevant professional experience in FP&A, Finance/Accounting roles; at least some of this in a commercial environment is a must
  • Advanced Excel and financial modeling skills
  • Strong business and analytic acumen, including problem-solving and critical thinking
  • Driven self-starter with the ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline driven, and evolving environment while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to take ownership and drive improvement in efficiency and effectiveness
  • Detail-oriented, well organised and understand the importance of data integrity
  • Strong critical eye for detail
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to decipher intricacies in and craft a story with data

  • NetSuite ERP and Workday Adaptive Planning experience
