Expanding our partnership with Getty Images to strengthen our AI

We're thrilled to announce we've expanded our content partnership with Getty Images to supercharge our AI tools.

Since the beginning, democratizing design has been at the heart of Canva’s mission. We're dedicated to providing everyone with the creative content and tools they need to achieve their goals.

Canva has been partnering with Getty Images since 2018, adding to the Canva content library with hundreds of millions of high-quality images and videos, in addition to the amazing assets created by more than 100,000 Canva Creators.

Today, we’re thrilled to announce that as part of Canva’s $200 million Content Fund, we’ve expanded our partnership with Getty Images to support Canva’s work to develop responsibly trained generative AI tools.

Amazing content fuels creativity

We do this in several ways, including through the Canva Creators(opens in a new tab or window) program and the Canva Represents Fund(opens in a new tab or window), which all help our global community to meet every design need through a comprehensive and diverse library of content(opens in a new tab or window). Today, we expand that effort to offer even more options through our partnership with Getty Images.

We also believe it’s important for our licensing to be clear and simple(opens in a new tab or window). Everything available in our content library is covered by our Content License Agreement, and we’re deeply appreciative of our mutual collaboration with partners like Getty Images to make this simple and fair for everyone.

Ensuring creatives truly benefit from AI

We’re also deeply committed to ensuring that creatives truly benefit from the advancement of AI. We think it’s not only critical, but also fair that creatives and IP rights holders earn royalties when they license their work for AI training.

Our expanded partnership with Getty Images marks another milestone in our commitment to develop AI responsibly(opens in a new tab or window), and in a way that benefits everyone.

Quote from Peter Orlowsky, Senior VP, Strategic Development, Getty Images about the partnership

When we unveiled our AI product suite Magic Studio(opens in a new tab or window) last year, we also introduced Canva Shield(opens in a new tab or window), our industry-leading approach to safe, secure, and fair AI. This includes our $200 million Content Fund, which includes payouts to Canva Creators who consent to their content being used to train Canva’s proprietary AI models. It also includes copyright indemnification for enterprises, robust trust and safety systems, and AI data controls.

As AI accelerates creativity across all professions, we’re committed to equipping everyone with content and cutting-edge tools and developing and delivering AI capabilities responsibly so they benefit everyone.

We couldn’t be more excited for what the future holds. Get started today by exploring Magic Studio.(opens in a new tab or window)
