Visual communication is how Flagship teams share ideas and information, from Site Managers designing customer reports on the ground, to Sales producing presentations.
Before Canva, the business lacked effective design workflows, and brand consistency was a major challenge. Content often came to the Marketing and Creative Services department for approval riddled with errors, draining time-strapped resources.
“There were brand identity issues, some teams were using stretched logos and [the wrong] fonts. I was correcting over 50 reports a week,” says Amanda Ruthman, Presentation Specialist in Flagship’s Marketing team.
Flagship first encountered Canva in 2019 through a Social Media Manager who used the platform to create visual content for social platforms.
"Every internal design request came to our team,” says Josh Cooley, Flagship’s Creative Director. “I was interested in Canva’s brand standardization capabilities and how we could onboard different teams within one platform. Flagship quickly standardized its brand assets in Canva, giving teams immediate access to more than 90 custom-built templates, from white papers to sell sheets, reports, and presentations. Colors, logos, and fonts were also centralized within the Brand Kit, giving teams one-stop access to the correct branded materials.

Creating operational reports for thousands of customers was one of the biggest resource strains on the Marketing team. With easy-to-edit custom-built templates available within Canva, Site Managers get a head start on the content creation process before handing it over to the Marketing team for final touches.
Both teams save over 10 hours a week on design edits. That’s 520 hours a year.

Before Canva, Flagship’s HR team relied on Marketing to create job flyers, adding extra time and cost to the hiring and production process. Now Canva templates make quick work of these flyers.

“It’s changed the game for us,” says Chad Phillips, Creative Services Manager. “Some people are fearful of AI. Being a lean team producing lots of content, we’re excited. It’s saved us valuable time.”
“The bottlenecks in creative workflows disappeared when we implemented Canva,” adds Josh. “As a designer, I never thought I would get to this point. But I'm using Canva almost exclusively as my design platform.”

Before, it would take hours on a computer to upload pictures and populate reports. Now, Site Managers can complete reports on-the-go with the mobile app. Images are uploaded already perfectly sized in Frames.
Turnaround time for operational reports has been significantly reduced with the ability to drag and drop images into Frames.
“It’s helped to create flexibility, since the nature of their job means they don’t have time to be desk-bound,” shares Amanda.
“I love the seamlessness between the mobile app and desktop,” adds Josh. “Our teams are actively using both.”
