Introducing Canva for Districts
We’re excited to officially announce Canva for Districts, a new free offering transforming the way teachers and students create, collaborate, and communicate.
Creativity in our classrooms has never been more important. Upskilling the next generation in design literacy has become table stakes as educators look for innovative ways to engage and prepare their students who will be entering an increasingly visual workforce.
Since December 2019 we’ve been providing students and teachers across the globe with free access to Canva for Education, our K-12 education-focused product that includes Canva’s full suite of visual communication tools, combined with extra features designed just for the classroom. Since launching – just before schools closed and learning changed dramatically – it’s seen exponential growth, with Education users now making up more than a quarter of our total community.
Today, we’re excited to officially launch Canva for Districts: a new free offering within Canva for Education transforming the way teachers and students create, collaborate, and communicate.
Solving for scale
Across districts, challenges such as budget constraints, security and privacy issues, lack of brand consistency at a district level, and complex implementation that impacts tech uptake can all result in a lack of time to invest in new ways to improve learning outcomes.
We’re excited to help solve these pain points with the launch of our easy-to-use product built with accessibility and connectivity in mind. With more and more individual schools using Canva, we know districts are looking to streamline workflows and enable creativity at scale. A few months ago, we launched Canva for Campus, our tertiary offering that empowers universities and colleges with tools for team management, brainstorming, and collaboration. Now, with Canva for Districts, we’re giving school systems the power to provide educators and students interconnected access to Canva’s full suite of tools for free, including millions of images, fonts, graphics, videos, animations, templates, and more.
Once a district signs up, its teachers and students are provided with 100% free access to Canva’s premium features, along with:
- Single Sign-On (SSO) for smooth implementation district-wide, streamlining operations and administration for school systems
- Access to Canva’s Brand Kit for effortless use of school logos and colors.
- Centralized account provisioning and publishing controls for greater efficiency and consistency.
- Enterprise-level security with advanced permission features and data privacy controls
- Seamless integration with popular Learning Management Systems (LMSs) to ensure a smooth workflow for educators and students.
Celebrating more than 45 million students and teachers using Canva
As we take this next step, we’re also celebrating some exciting milestones on our journey to infuse creativity and visual communication into every classroom across the globe. We’re thrilled to share that more than 45 million students and teachers across over 600,000 schools are now using Canva to collaborate and communicate visually. This rapid adoption of our education products highlights the immense demand and enthusiasm for visual communication in the classroom.
From posters to presentations, videos, and websites, in the last 12 months alone, more than 1.5 billion designs have been created by our education community. We’ve also created more than 70,000 free education templates across a wide variety of subjects and grade levels, with more continuously being added.
Empowering students with the skills of tomorrow
We believe education is a fundamental human right, which is why we’ll always have a free K-12 product – democratizing design with one single visual communication platform that houses everything you need. Over the last year, we’ve added even more tools to empower classrooms with the skills of tomorrow, such as an education content marketplace, new accessibility features, partnership integrations with other education platforms, and more.
Some of your most-used education apps are available to use within Canva, too. From Canvas, Schoology, and Google Classroom, to Blackboard and Moodle, integrating Canva to your learning management system is simple and easy, making for streamlined efficiency when file-sharing with your students.
We also recently switched on Magic Write for teachers, allowing them to harness the power of AI to streamline tasks, from lesson planning to worksheet creation and presentation building, allowing them to dedicate more time to meaningful classroom engagement.
Working alongside our community
We’ve been fortunate to build collaborative relationships with our global education community along our Canva for Education journey, and it’s something we strive to continue to do today. We’re always looking for ways to better understand how our community uses Canva, how we can better facilitate learning in their classroom, and how we can supercharge their creativity and engagement with students. Just this week, we met with more than 30 teachers from the Texan education community at our new flagship Austin campus for a day of immersive learning and upskilling, hands-on activities, brainstorming, and idea-making.
A step closer to empowering the world to design
We often say we’re only 1% of the way there – and although we’re humbled by the huge momentum of our growing education community, we know we’re only just getting started. Following the success of Canva for Campus, we’re excited to take the next step in our education journey with the launch of Canva for Districts. As we accelerate our education mission, we can’t wait to continue to empower teachers, transform learning, and unleash a new level of creativity.
