A global collaboration

With designs hailing from Korea, Brazil, Argentina, and the Philippines, our new Canva Print(opens in a new tab or window) packaging artwork truly comes from all over the globe. We strived to hero the work of emerging artists who share our Canva values as we showcase their incredible talents and share their visual voice with our global community.

Each artist has a unique story and a strong, distinct style representing their culture, which is reflected in their designs. Rich in diverse visions and purposes – ranging from representing music through imagery to creating playful worlds of illustrations – we’re incredibly excited to have four limited-edition designs taking over all upcoming Canva Print(opens in a new tab or window) order boxes.

Artist spotlight: Ahra Kwon

Hailing from Seoul, South Korea, Ahra Kwon(opens in a new tab or window) is a female illustrator with a unique style which she brings to life through vibrant color palettes and compositions. Her designs for Canva feature her distinctive character designs, and playful and warm style, but were inspired by Canva’s core values of being human, empowering, and inspiring.

Knowing each package supports tree planting, Ahra aimed to portray the joyful interaction between people and plants, connecting the front and back of the box with the stem of plants to add a sense of dynamic movement and intrigue. Ahra sought to illustrate how Canva influences positive actions by portraying active and engaged characters interacting harmoniously with plants.

Artist spotlight: Eugenia Mello

Brooklyn-based Latin-American artist Eugenia Mello(opens in a new tab or window) is an illustrator and graphic designer from Buenoes Aires, Argentina, who loves rhythm, movement, and community and strives to infuse these passions in her designs.

Her illustration for Canva is a moment of celebration and togetherness, where a diverse group of characters are connected and flowing together, each to their own beat but part of a larger pattern together. It is a musical embroidery of energy, music, and life – as Eugenia feels like most of life, we are all one, part of the same.

Artist spotlight: Peve Azevedo

Peve Azevedo(opens in a new tab or window) is a Brazilian illustrator and graphic designer in Sao Paulo, Brazil, whose illustrations involve mixing shapes, colors, and textures to create playful worlds.

His design for Canva showcases his iconic punchy, graphic style, with various characters, nature, and unique shapes infused throughout the design.

Artist spotlight: Jill Arteche

A Filipina visual artist and illustrator, Jill Arteche(opens in a new tab or window), aims to bring familiarity through transforming the mundane into comical and lighthearted spectacles. Driven by her post-pandemic fondness of taking care of plants, Jill’s design for Canva encompasses her fondness of the sense of fulfillment that comes from growing something start to finish with your own hands, showcasing people working together on various tasks to grow a garden from seed to full bloom.

Her design’s central theme is “Together to Empower”, inspired by the vision that when we come together as a community, a safe space is created to cultivate a sense of empowerment. Jill believes that together we can motivate one another and contribute to achieve things greater than the effort of one, which is reflected in her beautiful design.

You print, we plant a tree

Sustainability(opens in a new tab or window) is incredibly important to us at Canva – so each box includes a fun illustration inside to encourage our community to recycle, or keep to give it a second life – but our mission goes much deeper than that. As a global platform used by more than 170 million people, we have a responsibility to use our resources to do the most good we can(opens in a new tab or window). One of our core values is ‘be a force for good’(opens in a new tab or window), and one of the ways we live this value is through our partnership(opens in a new tab or window) with One Print, One Tree(opens in a new tab or window).

With a mission of supporting environmental recuperation, we plant a tree for every print order placed by our community – and we’re incredibly proud to have planted over 4 million trees in the past two years. We plant trees all over the world, including in the Philippines, home of featured artist Jill Arteche – and we’re committed to continuing to work alongside local villages and communities to achieve successful and long-standing restoration efforts both now and in the future. Our artist collaboration is no different – for every order made, you do a good deed: you print, we plant a tree.
