Canva named one of TIME100 World’s Most Influential Companies

As we approach our 10th anniversary, we’re incredibly proud to have been named on the renowned TIME100 Most Influential Companies List following a defining year for Canva.


Since the very beginning, we’ve had an ambitious vision, and even bigger aspirations, but being named as one of the world’s 100 most influential companies is something we could’ve only ever dreamed of. Today, that dream becomes reality, and we’re incredibly proud to announce that Canva has been named on TIME’s TIME100 Most Influential Companies List for 2023(opens in a new tab or window).

Now in its third year, the prestigious list is curated by an expansive network of editors and correspondents looking to highlight companies making extraordinary impacts around the world. Following a defining year for Canva(opens in a new tab or window), and recently hitting 15 billion designs(opens in a new tab or window), we’re thrilled to have been included.

Our mission

We’ve always been focused on solving problems and democratizing design, and this recognition reaffirms the tremendous potential of that vision: visual communication shouldn’t be limited to a select few. We believe everyone, everywhere, should be empowered to design. Even with more than 135 million people around the world using Canva, we truly feel we’re still only 1% of the way there.

We’ve been on this journey for close to 10 years, but it's some of our newest products that are already having the most significant impact. Last year, we unveiled our Visual Suite(opens in a new tab or window), a free suite of products including Docs(opens in a new tab or window), Presentations(opens in a new tab or window), Whiteboards(opens in a new tab or window), Video(opens in a new tab or window), and Websites(opens in a new tab or window), which have redefined how our community uses Canva.

In March this year, we supercharged our Visual Suite with magic to further democratize design, with the launch of Magic Write(opens in a new tab or window), Magic Design(opens in a new tab or window), Magic Edit(opens in a new tab or window), Magic Eraser(opens in a new tab or window), and Magic Resize(opens in a new tab or window). Visual communication has become an essential part of our daily lives – and we see these transformational AI-powered tools as incredible collaborative partners in the creative process.

Our ‘simple’ two-step plan

Canva is also underpinned by a deeper mission, known as our Two-Step Plan(opens in a new tab or window) – Step One) to become one of the world’s most valuable companies, and Step Two(opens in a new tab or window)) do the most good we can. One of our core values is ‘be a force for good’(opens in a new tab or window) and we strive to lead the way by using our voice, platform, and reach to stand behind these values that drive us.

Empowering nonprofits

We empower more than 400,000 nonprofits(opens in a new tab or window) to spark change by providing them with free access to our paid products(opens in a new tab or window) and offering educational workshops to help develop marketing and visual communication skills.

Supporting the world’s most vulnerable

We have an ongoing partnership with GiveDirectly(opens in a new tab or window) where we provide cash transfers(opens in a new tab or window) to thousands of people living in extreme poverty in villages across rural Malawi, resulting in both immediate impact and long-term positive uplift for communities.

Planting seeds for the future

Through our One Print, One Tree(opens in a new tab or window) program we’ve committed to planting a tree(opens in a new tab or window) for every print(opens in a new tab or window) order placed through Canva – to date, we’ve planted more than four million trees (1.3 million in 2022 alone) across 11 countries with another six million trees committed.

Powering education

Expectations of design literacy are on the rise, and learning these skills in the classroom is essential for the leaders of tomorrow. More than 45 million students(opens in a new tab or window) and teachers across over 600,000 schools are now using Canva for Education(opens in a new tab or window) to collaborate and communicate, and we can’t wait to see this number continue to grow.
