UPShow enables its customers (marketers) to design the creative for promotions and then determine down to the exact screen in each venue what would be shown. With such sophisticated targeting comes pressure to create a lot of assets - and fast.

The Challenge

UPshow wanted to give its customers a way to quickly create promotions that they could seamlessly upload to their platform.

UPshow CMO Lori McInerny explains: “Many marketing engagement platform companies have built their own design tools but they are all lacking the key attributes and features that are really needed.”

Because UPshow's customers include such a diverse range of industries including hospitality, fitness, entertainment, and healthcare venues such as Burger King, Buffalo Wild Wings, Anytime Fitness, Dave and Busters, Chick-fil-A, MD Now, UFC Gyms, Dunkin Donuts, Sky Zones, and ATI Physical Therapy, the style of content is very varied and yet also specific to each niche.

UPshow’s network spans more than 25,000 screens in venues around the world and is doubling in size every year so the content requirements are booming and the company needed a design partner that could match its growth.

The Solution

In 2019, UPshow approached Canva to see if it could help ramp up UPshow's content.

“With Canva being the worldwide leader in the design space, UPshow sought a partnership in late 2019 as a way to provide its customers with a best-in-class platform to create on-screen marketing materials. This led to UPshow being the first official Canva Button partner, opening up a world of creative possibilities to our customers,” says Lori.

“Rather than building our own tool - and spending significant amounts of time and money in the process, it made perfect sense to integrate the Canva Button to give our customers seamless access to the world’s best graphic design tool, right from within UPshow’s control panel. Best of all, Canva’s video templates can help a novice UPshow customer look like an advertising executive. Canva is extremely easy to use for our internal teams and partners,” she explains.

Since the integration launched Lori says that she has seen a definite improvement in the quality of campaigns being uploaded.

“With the current Canva Button, over 30% of our customers create promotions using Canva. Overall, we’ve received great feedback from clients, and internally, we absolutely love it. We have an extensive library of Spotlights, which are companies marketing messages transformed into incredible displays for their in-venue screens. Spotlights are the perfect commercial for every brand. This empowers people to quickly create professional-looking promotions that are instantly added to their UPshow screens in Canva which makes it extremely easy to make edits and updates,” says Lori.

The next step of the partnership is to upgrade UPshow’s integration to include more Canva Pro features.
