Set up your Brand Kit automatically
Brand Kit Builder quickly creates a Brand Kit by extracting logos, colours, and public fonts from a website or PDF. PDF extraction uses AI to pull assets like font styles, brand voice, and guidelines—reducing manual setup and speeding up onboarding.
You can access the Brand Kit Builder in three ways.
Who can use this feature?
- Plan: Canva Pro, Canva Teams, Canva Enterprise, Canva Education, and Canva Non-profit plans
- Role: Team owners, admins, and brand designers with Brand Kit edit access
- Device: Web, Mobile, and Desktop app
- Country: All countries excluding China
Use Brand Kit Builder from a new or empty Brand Kit
- Go to the Brand tab on the Homepage
- Select an empty or new Brand Kit
- Choose one of the setup options:
- Enter your company website URL
- Upload a PDF brand guidelines document
- For website URLs:
- Type your company website address
- Select the → button
- Review extracted elements
- Make any edits or add additional elements to complete your Brand Kit.
- For PDF guidelines:
- Upload your brand guidelines PDF
- Review extracted elements
- Make any edits or add additional elements to complete your Brand Kit.
Use Brand Kit Builder during team onboarding
Set up your Brand Kit using Brand Kit Builder as part of the team onboarding process.
- Go through your team setup until you reach the Brand Kit step
- Choose one of the setup options:
- Enter your company website URL
- Upload a PDF brand guidelines document
- For website URLs:
- Type your company website address
- Select the → button
- After onboarding, go to the Brand tab to review extracted elements
- Make any edits or add additional assets to complete your Brand Kit
- For PDF guidelines:
- Upload your brand guidelines PDF
- After onboarding, go to the Brand tab to review extracted elements
- Make any edits or add additional elements to complete your Brand Kit
Use Brand Kit Builder from an incomplete Brand Kit
- Go to the Brand tab on the Homepage
- If your Brand Kit is missing key elements, you'll see the Brand Kit Builder banner
- Select the banner to start
- Choose one of the setup options:
- Enter your company website URL
- Upload a PDF brand guidelines document
- For website URLs:
- Type your company website address
- Select the → button
- Review extracted elements
- Make any edits or add additional elements to complete your Brand Kit
- For PDF guidelines:
- Upload your brand guidelines PDF
- Review extracted elements
- Make any edits or add additional elements to complete your Brand Kit
Brand Kit Builder isn’t working
If extraction doesn't work, you'll see an error message with steps to fix it:
- Try a different website URL or PDF
- For websites: Use a public URL with accessible branding assets
- For PDFs: Make sure it’s clearly formatted and under 200 MB. Complex or scanned PDFs may not extract correctly
Who can use Brand Kit Builder?
Brand Kit Builder is exclusively available to team owners, admins, and brand designers with Brand Kit edit access. Team members cannot access this feature unless granted specific permissions.
How long does the process take?
Website extraction is usually instant. PDF extraction takes around a minute on average, but it can vary depending on the file’s size and complexity.
Will it replace my existing Brand Kit content?
For Brand Kits with minimal or incomplete content, extracted elements may replace existing ones. If your Brand Kit already contains key elements, Brand Kit Builder won't appear.
