I can no longer access my Canva Education team

If you received an email saying, “You may lose access to Canva,” it likely means your teacher or school deleted their Canva account or team. Learn how this affects your account and Canva access .

In Canva Education, teachers create class teams and invite students to join. When you accept an invite, your Canva account becomes linked to the teacher’s class team. This setup allows the teacher to manage access and ensures everyone in class can collaborate in a shared space.

Because your access is tied to the teacher’s class and not just Canva, what happens to their account affects yours too.

When a teacher or school deletes their Canva Education account or team, they've 14 days to log in and restore the account and all data. This means students also have the same 14-day window to recover their individual accounts.

After 14 days without logging in, your account will be permanently deleted.

• If you’re part of the deleted class only, you've 14 days to access your account before it gets permanently deleted. If you log in within the 14-day window, Canva checks your age:
  • If you’re 13 or older, your account will switch to a personal Canva account, but your designs and files from the deleted class won’t carry over.
  • If you’re under 13, your account will be locked to comply with student privacy laws.
• If you’re part of another class or team, regardless of age:
  • Canva access continues via the other team.
  • Designs and files are attached to the deleted class team; thus, they won’t carry over.

Canva follows important privacy laws that protect students’ personal information around the world. For example:

• In the U.S., students under 13 need permission from a parent or school to use Canva. This is part of the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).
• In Europe, similar rules apply for younger students under General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

Students using Canva Education are allowed only under teacher or school supervision; that's why children under 13 (or the legal minimum in their country) can only use Canva if they're invited by a teacher or school.

When the team owner (teacher or school) deletes their Canva Education account, Canva is required to remove access for connected students.
