Transfer and take over teams
As a team owner, you can transfer team ownership to another person on the team. The person you nominate will have the option to accept or reject the team ownership transfer.
- Only team owners can transfer team ownership.
- The new owner should be a member of the team.
- And must've an active Canva account associated with their nominated email on file.
Note: Ownership transfers won’t work if the owner is the only person left on the team.
The new team owner must be a part of the team in order to transfer ownership. If the new owner isn’t part of the team yet, add them by managing team members.

For Canva Teams or Canva Business owners
If you’re on a Canva Teams or Canva Business plan, make sure the attached team payment method is updated before doing a team ownership transfer. You won’t be able to update the payment method once you’ve transferred ownership.
For example, if the payment method is your personal card, you may want to update the attached payment method to a company-issued or team-shared one.
For Canva Pro owners
If you're on Canva Pro with multiple team members, the current team owner can transfer ownership to another member. Note: This option only appears if you’re using a team, not a personal brand.
We're rolling out navigation changes gradually, so some steps in this Help article may not accurately reflect what you see in the app. If you can't find Canva AI, your profile photo, or your Print cart on the homepage, go to More.

Security measures for brand ownership transfers
To enhance security, brand ownership transfers will now require users to log in on the device they are using to initiate the transfer. If a suspicious device is detected, the transfer will only proceed once the user logs out and logs back in using the same device.
If you’re encountering an error message related to security when attempting a brand ownership transfer, please log out and then log back in on the same device you’re using for the transfer. If the error persists, follow the troubleshooting steps on this page.
