Add border elements


Outline boundaries, break a design into sections, or drive focus to added text, images, or videos by adding borders.

You can’t add photos to borders. Use frames or grids instead. You may also add borders and rounded corners to elements from the toolbar.

  1. Create or open an existing design.
  2. From the editor side panel, select
    Elements.
  3. In the Search bar, type in borders. Press Enter.
    1. Under Search, browse existing border elements from the Canva library.
    2. To create new border elements, select Generate.
  4. To add a border to your design, click or tap on it from the options. Pro or paid ones are tagged with a $ or a Pro icon.

Use CMD+D (Mac) or CTRL+D (Windows) to duplicate a selected element.

To resize borders, click to select it, and drag any of the white circle handles on the edges in or out.

To change its colour, click or tap to select it, and click the colour tile from the editor toolbar. See Changing element colour for more details.

To see more from a contributor, hover over an element from the editor side panel. Click the

Show details popup icon that appears, and click View more by contributor below the element title.
