About Canva Education
With Canva Education, you can create the most engaging lessons and run activities for students in-class or online. Access thousands of templates for any subject, grade, or topic, and enjoy all of Canva’s premium features for free.

- Access to Affinity and use of professional creative photo editing, layout, and illustration. Learn how to set up Affinity with your account.

Who can access Canva Education?
Canva Education is free for eligible teachers and students. It’s available all over the world, and isn’t restricted to any country.
To access Canva Education, you must be currently active in one of the following roles:
- A certified K-12 (primary or secondary) teacher from a formally accredited school, who is currently in a teaching position
- A certified K-12 (primary or secondary) school librarian
- A certified K-12 (primary or secondary) learning support assistant or teacher
- A certified K-12 (primary or secondary) curriculum specialist
- A certified teacher at a technical or vocational school, serving primary and/or secondary students (or any equivalent)
The following government recognised and formally accredited organisations can also access Canva Education:
- K-12 (primary, secondary, or pre-college) schools
- School districts
- Departments of education
- Other global school systems

Who can’t access Canva Education?
The following roles and organisations are not eligible for Canva Education.
- Certified K-12 (primary or secondary) teachers, who are not currently in teaching positions
- Public librarians (e.g. city or county librarians)
- Preschool or childcare assistants
- Colleges, Universities, and other higher education institutions, including lecturers and staff
- College and university students
- Continuing/Further education institutions
- Adult education institutions
- Organisations providing extracurricular activities outside of school
- Early stage start-ups with an educational focus
- Parents of children who are in K-12 (primary or secondary) education
- Not-for-profit organisations that are not delivering teaching directly
- Homeschool educators who are not licenced or currently employed with a K-12 institution

How can I apply for Canva Education?
Teachers who recently signed up may see a 30-day homepage alert with a direct link to the Canva Education application.

If we recognise your email through an existing school, you’ll get access right away. However, you might still be asked to verify your teaching credentials. Otherwise, we’ll need to process your application. Here’s how it works:
- Open the Canva Education sign up page.
- Sign up for Canva Education with a verified educational email domain. You can also sign up with your school or district’s Clever, Microsoft, or Google account.
- Follow the signup prompts.
- After signing up, select that you're a Teacher.
- Select what type of school you teach at.
- Enter your first and last name, country, school name, and address, and school website.
- If you signed up with a verified educational email domain, you’ll get access right away.
- If you didn’t sign up with a verified educational email domain, upload a photo or scan of at least 1 document that shows your name, school name, and teaching position. Then select Submit.

Approved documents we may accept depending on your location
Official teacher identification that shows current status, like the following:
- Photo or scan of a licence/certification indicating teaching qualification
- Photo or scan showing employment status at a school where requested by us
- Photo or scan of school ID indicating teaching status
- Document proving an organisation’s status as a government-recognised, formally accredited K-12 (primary, secondary, or pre-college) educational institution
Note: Teachers in Japan, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, the United States of America, South Korea, and Europe must only provide a copy of their teaching licence.
How can students access Canva Education?
Canva Education is available to students of K–12 (primary or secondary) age. However, for college and university students, it’s currently not yet available for them.
Eligible students can only get access if their teacher invites them. If you’re a teacher, you can do this in your Settings. Learn more about inviting students and teachers to your class.
- Canva Education is FERPA, COPPA, and GDPR compliant, and offers safe-for-school content.
- Teachers need to get parental consent for children below 13. More on this here.
