What you can do with Canva AI for writing

  • Generate text in a blank doc: Get started quickly without staring at a blank page.
  • Build on existing text: Build on your current content by adding or continuing text based on what’s already in your doc.
  • Refine existing text: Improve, rewrite, expand, or adjust the tone of your copy.
  • Summarize a document: Quickly grasp the key points of long documents.
  • Polish document formatting: Enhance your document with markdown, color, bold, italics, and other styling elements for a clearer, more polished look.

For quick edits to short content, you can also use Magic Write.

Canva AI is slow or takes too long to generate text

What can cause this

Your prompt may be too complex or includes too many requests.

What to do

Shorten the prompt or break it into smaller requests. If the response seems stuck, refresh the page and try again.

Canva AI generated text that isn’t what I expected

What can cause this

Canva AI may generate lower-quality results if your prompt doesn’t include enough context, asks for too many things at once, or is affected by settings like Brand Voice.

What to do

  • Use a more specific prompt. Include details like your audience, tone, and purpose.
  • Regenerate the result. Outputs can vary each time.
  • If the tone feels off, say exactly what tone you want in your prompt.
  • Check whether Brand Voice is affecting the output. If it’s turned on, try turning it off temporarily, then generate the text again to compare.

Tip: The more context you include, the better Canva AI can tailor the result.
