Copy content to your school or district account
If you have designs in another Canva account, you can copy them to your school or district account. This helps keep all your work in one place.
Before you start
- Make sure you can access the email inbox for the account you're copying from (we'll send a verification code).
- Content copy is enabled by your school or district (if you don't see the option, contact your administrator).
Check which accounts you can copy from
What you can copy depends on your district's settings.
- Some districts allow you to copy from any account, including personal emails like @gmail.com or @yahoo.com.
- Others only allow copying from school email addresses.
If you're not sure which applies, check with your administrator.
Copy your content
- Log in to your school or district account.
- If your district uses SSO, you'll be redirected to your school's login portal.
- If not, log in with your district email.
- Select your profile picture, then select Your account.
- In Your profile, select Copy your content.
- Enter the email address of the account you want to copy from.
- Check your inbox for a verification code, then enter it.
- Select the team or teams you want to copy from.
- Choose the team you want your content copied to.
- Select Copy content.
You'll get a notification when the copy is done. Your designs and folders will then be available in your SSO-linked account.

Fix common issues
If you’re not sure what’s causing the issue, start with the closest match below.
I didn't receive the verification code
- Check your spam or junk folder for an email from no-reply@canva.com.
- Wait a few minutes, then try again.
- Make sure the email address is correct.
- If your school manages your email, ask your administrator to allow emails from no-reply@canva.com.
I don’t see the “Copy your content” option
Your school or district needs to turn this feature on.
Make sure you're logged in to your school or district account, not a personal account. Contact your IT administrator if you still don't see it.
I can't copy from a specific account
The account may not be eligible based on your district's settings.
If the account belongs to another district, their settings may prevent copying.
I'm locked out of my old account due to SSO
If your school recently enforced SSO and you can't log in to your previous account, you can still copy content from it.
You only need access to the email inbox to receive the verification code.
I can't find my copied designs
If you've completed the copy process but can't find your designs:
- Look for a folder named From {account name}. It will match the account you copied the content from.
- Check the Projects tab
- Use the search to look for specific design names
- See Missing designs for more help
FAQs
Does Canva verify that I own the account?
Yes. Canva sends a verification email with a one-time code to confirm you own the account you're copying from. For security, this code is valid for 10 minutes. If the code doesn't work, you can close this window and try again by selecting Copy content.
If you don't receive it, check your spam or junk folder. If your school manages your email, ask your administrator to allow emails from no-reply@canva.com.
Can I copy from a personal email account like @gmail.com?
This depends on your district's settings.
Some districts allow copying from any email address, including personal accounts. Others restrict it to school email addresses only.
Will I lose my designs in the original account?
No. Copying creates a duplicate. Your original designs remain in the source account.
