Accessing Cavalry for free with a Canva account

Cavalry by Canva is a professional, real-time 2D procedural animation software available for free with a Canva account. It enables motion designers to create data-driven animations, procedural rigs, and complex motion graphics.

Cavalry is available with your Canva account, but needs to be downloaded before use.

Whether you're already using Canva or just getting started with Cavalry, this guide walks you through the setup process.

Cavalry is available to all Canva account plans and supports Mac and Windows platforms.

Step 1: Download and install the Cavalry by Canva

Before downloading the Cavalry app, make sure your device meets the minimum technical specifications.
With your device confirmed, download the Cavalry app.

Install Cavalry

Run the downloaded installation file to set up Cavalry on your device.

Make sure you’re connected to the internet for first-time setup and authentication.

Follow these installation steps for your device:

For Mac
1. Open the downloaded .DMG file and drag the Cavalry app into your Applications folder.
2. Then double-click the app to launch it.
For Windows
1. Run the .MSI installer and follow the setup wizard.
2. Once installed, open the Cavalry app from your Start menu or desktop shortcut.

After installation, launch the Cavalry app to begin setup.

Step 2: Log in or create a Canva account

After launching the Cavalry app, you’ll be prompted to connect or create your Canva account.

In the Continue to Cavalry by Canva screen, select Continue with email.
Enter your email address.
If you’re new to Canva, you’ll be prompted to enter your name to complete account creation.
Check your inbox and enter the 6-digit verification code.
Once complete, you’ll be directed to return to the Cavalry app.

Step 3: Select your team (For Enterprise and Teams users)

If you're part of multiple Canva teams, you'll need to select which team to use with Cavalry.

Who needs to select a team?

Enterprise users who belong to multiple teams or brands
Teams users with access to multiple workspaces
Users whose administrators manage Cavalry access permissions

From the team selection screen, choose your preferred team or brand from the dropdown.
Select Continue.
Note: If you see "You don't have access to Cavalry with this account," your administrator may have disabled Cavalry for that team. Try selecting a different team or contact your administrator for assistance.

Step 4: Authorize access and return to Cavalry

After logging in or creating your Canva account, you’ll see a message that says “Almost in the app…”.

Select Continue to return to the Cavalry app. Note: Your browser may display a system prompt asking if you want to open the app.
Choose Allow or Open Cavalry to continue.
