Import files from third-party apps to Canva AI

You can attach files from cloud storage apps or third-party data sources to give Canva AI more context. Add files by selecting them or pasting a link.

If you’ve previously linked your account in Canva (e.g. via Uploads or Connect Apps), you won’t be prompted to connect it when using it in Canva AI. Looking to connect third-party apps to Canva AI instead? See Connect third-party apps to Canva AI.

You can import to Canva AI from your homepage or while editing a design.

From the homepage

  1. From your homepage, go to Canva AI.
  2. Select the
    plus icon, then choose
    Import.
  3. Choose from the list of available apps.
  4. If you haven’t linked your account yet, you’ll be asked to authorise Canva to access your content. Select Connect and follow the prompts.
  5. Once your account is linked, you can browse and select your files without leaving the homepage. Select Import.
  6. Enter a prompt then click the send button.

From the editor

  1. Open a design, then select the Templates tab, Elements tab, or Canva AI tab.
  2. Select the
    plus icon, then choose
    Import.
  3. Choose from the list of available apps.
  4. If you haven’t linked your account yet, you’ll be asked to authorize Canva to access your content. Select Connect and follow the prompts.
  5. Once your account is linked, you can browse and select your files without leaving the homepage. Click Add.
  6. Enter a prompt, then click the send button.

Tip: You can also paste a link directly from one of the available apps in Canva AI. If you haven't connected your account yet, you'll be asked to set it up.

Disconnect apps from Canva AI

You can disconnect the app from your Settings or by following these steps:

  1. Select Import, then choose an app.
  2. With the app open, select the
    more icon and choose
    Disconnect.

The app will be disconnected everywhere in Canva.
