Join teams
Owners and admins can invite people via email or links to join their teams.
We're rolling out navigation changes gradually, so some steps in this Help article may not accurately reflect what you see in the app. If you can't find Canva AI, your profile photo, or your Print cart on the homepage, go to More.
Join through accepting an invitation
If you’re invited via email, click Join the team on the email to accept. You won’t be added to the team until you accept the invitation.
If you don’t have a Canva account yet, you’ll be asked to create an account.
Make sure to accept an email invitation within 30 days after receiving it. Once your invite link expires, you need to ask a team admin to invite you again.
Join a team with your email domain
- From the side panel of the homepage, select your profile photo.
- Select Settings.
- Go to the Your teams tab.
- Select Join teams.
- Next to the team that you want to join, select Request.
- Wait for the team admin to accept your request.
Alternatively, you can see the available teams with your same domain by clicking your profile icon, select the current team, then select Join teams.
What do I do if my access gets denied?
If you see an error message while joining a team, this may be because of the team’s settings. Some teams only allow people with verified email addresses from their domains to join their teams. When this happens, here are some things you can try:
- Log out of Canva and log in using your company email address.
- Join the team using an invite link. You can ask the team owner to share this with you.
- Reach out to the team owner or admin and confirm if you should have access to Canva.
For Canva Teams or Canva Business
If you signed up using an organisation email address, once logged in, you will be suggested teams to join that are part of your company. Depending on their settings, joining teams might require team admin approval.
What if we have SSO enabled for Canva?
Joining a team depends on the team’s Just-in-time (JIT) provisioning setting. When you log in via SSO and the team’s JIT provisioning is turned on, which is the default, you’ll automatically be added to the team.
If the team’s JIT provisioning is turned off, you’ll be prevented from joining the team, and you won’t be able to create a personal account either. If you’re blocked by the JIT provisioning, you’ll need to request access from your team admin or use a different signup method to create a personal account.
I didn't receive an invite
If you're expecting an invite but can’t find it in your inbox, try these steps:
- Check your spam or junk folders.
- Make sure the email address the invite was sent to is connected to an existing Canva account.
- If you don’t have a Canva account yet, sign up at canva.com using the same email address the invite was sent to.
- Once you’ve signed up, ask the team admin to resend the invite.
Note: An invite is valid for 30 days, after which you'll need to request the team admin to resend it.
