How Canva is organized: People and projects
Canva Enterprise helps large organizations manage users and content at scale. Think of your workspace in two parts: People (who can access what) and Projects (how work is stored).
People: Understanding the hierarchy
Canva uses a layered structure to manage security and collaboration.
- Organization: The highest level. It houses all teams, global security settings (like SSO), and centralized billing.
- Teams: Workspaces for specific departments or regions. Team Admins manage members and content within their own team.
- Groups: Sets of people within a team organized by function (e.g., "Marketing Reviewers"). Use groups to share folders with many people at once.
Roles and permissions
Your role determines what you can see and do in the workspace. Check the Roles and permissions article to learn more.
Role | Responsibility |
Org Admin | Manages global settings, security, and all teams. |
Team Admin | Manages team members and internal content. |
Brand Designer | Manages Brand Kits and templates across the organization. |
Member | Creates and collaborates on shared team designs. |
Projects: How work is stored
Keep your work structured so teams can find content quickly.
- Folders: The main tool for grouping files by campaign or asset type.
- Brand Kits: Central hubs for approved logos, fonts, and colors.
- Content Hubs: Libraries of reusable Brand Templates that help teams stay on-brand.
- Collaboration Tools: Features like Version History and Approvals that streamline feedback and keep work moving.
