Add images to designs
Add images from the Canva library, use your own on your designs, or generate new Canva AI images.
Add or generate images
- From the editor side panel, select Elements.
- In the Search bar, describe what you're looking for. Press Enter.
- Under Search, you'll see a wide array of images from the Canva library.
- To create new AI content based on your prompt, select Generate.
- From the search results, select your preferred image to add to your design.

Designs can have up to 1,400 total images. Premium photos are tagged with a crown icon. Access an extended library of premium images for free with a Canva Pro, Canva Teams, Canva Education, or Canva for Nonprofits account.
What can I do with images?
