Get to know the glowed up editor and homepage

Our glow up includes a fresh homepage and editor designed for focused work. We made these changes to improve the way you create in Canva, and to make it easier to organise all of your designs, content, and documentation.

Guide to your glowed up homepage

Homepage menu

You can view the homepage menu without leaving the editor. In the top-left corner, select the

menu icon.

To close the menu, click the

close icon that appears when you hover your mouse around the Canva logo. To view the homepage in full, click
Home.

Personal starred

Access the stuff you need the most by creating custom sections on your homepage. On the homepage side menu, go to Your starred. This is where your starred designs or folders will appear.

To create a custom section:

  1. Click the
    plus icon.
  2. Enter a name for the new section.
  3. Click the smiling emoji icon to select an emoji for the section.
  4. To rename or delete the section, click
    more icon.
  5. Organise your starred content by dragging them to the section.

Team starred

Just below Your starred, you’ll find designs or folders starred by the team owner or admin. If you’re a team owner, admin, or brand designer, learn more about starring contents for your team.

Toolbar

The fixed toolbar below the header is now in a "quick actions toolbar". It’ll suggest relevant editing options depending on the selected element. If you select an image, it’ll present photo editing tools like cropping, filters, and effects. Select any text, and it will show font, size, and style.

Edit panel

The edit panel opens after selecting an option or tool or expanding the toolbar. The features you’ll see depend on the editing options available for the selected element. To close, click the

close button.

Side panel

We’ve redesigned the side panel with a fresh look, so you can easily browse and navigate the tools and content you need to bring your designs to life. You can still access templates, elements, fonts, Brand Kit, Draw, Projects folder, and Apps from here.

Hover over the tab to quickly access content or click on the tab to pin the panel open. To close the side panel, tap the tab again or click the

close button.

Comment panel

Work where nothing gets in your way. You can now expand or hide comments to maximise your space for design. Filter, sort, and see the full comment thread at a glance on a dedicated sidebar. Learn more about adding, deleting, and resolving comments.

Mode switcher

You can switch modes between Editing, Commenting, or Viewing via header across all design types. For docs, Suggesting mode is also available.

This is only available in the full editor view, not the embedded editor from the homepage.

To access on mobile, tap

more icon on the header.

Keyboard toolbar (Mobile)

When in text edit mode, a toolbar above the keyboard lets you choose style and format including font style, colour, and size.

To see more options, swipe left. When you select a tool (i.e., text colour), the keyboard will close automatically to show the available customisations. To expand the menu, tap the

arrow up icon. To go back to the editor toolbar, tap the
close button.

To close the keyboard toolbar, tap the

close button again.

View more actions (Mobile)

You’ll find the available options after selecting the element you’d like to edit. To view more, swipe left and tap

More. You may also tap
more icon from the floating toolbar, or long press on the element.

To close the menu and go back to the toolbar, tap the

close button.
