Purchase domains to publish websites
Purchase a domain for a more on-brand and professional website.
This isn’t available on the iOS and Android Canva apps. Visit canva.com on your browser to buy domains. For Canva Teams, this is only available to team administrators.
Purchased domains can only be connected to Website designs. If you're working from a mobile website or Link in Bio template, your site publishes to a canva.link address only and cannot use a purchased domain. To use a purchased domain, resize your design to a Website template or create a new design using a Website template.
Before designing
- You can check if your domain name is available or look for suggestions in Canva’s Domain Name Search tool.
- Select Claim domain to purchase and secure your domain name.
For teams, reach out to your team admin to complete the purchase.
While designing in the editor
Step 1: Purchase a domain
- On the editor menu, select Publish Website.
- Select the Buy a new domain option.
- Use the search bar to look for the domain that you want to use.
- To purchase a domain, select Claim domain next to it.
- Enter your details, and select Place order.
- Optional: Edit your website settings like the URL slug, site description, password protection, etc. Learn more about these in Changing website slug, favicon, and other settings. Select Continue.
- Select the payment method that you want to use, and enter your details.
- Select Pay and verify to finish.
Manage your domains from Settings > Web Domains. From here, Brand Admins can also set a purchased domain as the team's default for publishing.
For Canva Education users, teachers need to approve a website first before a student can publish it. Learn more about Approving designs (for teachers) and Getting design approval (for students).
Canva is a reseller of Tucows domains. Domains purchased through Canva are subject to Tucows’ refund policies. Learn more about Domain refunds.
Step 2: Verifying your domain
If this is your first time buying a domain through Canva, we’ll email you a link to verify your domain. Once verified, your website will be available on it within 15 minutes to 72 hours.
Make sure to verify your domain within 16 days of purchase. Otherwise, it will be suspended. If your domain gets suspended, your website will stop working. Reactivate it by using the link in any of the verification emails.
I didn't receive a verification email
Check your email account’s Spam or Junk folder. You’ll receive up to six (6) emails over 16 days to verify your contact details.
You’ll get the emails in your Canva email address. If you’ve recently changed it, we suggest also checking your old email account.
If this is your first time buying a domain under this email address and you didn’t receive a verification email, chat with Help Assistant to get help.
For how long can I use the purchased domain?
Domain purchases are good for one (1) year and automatically renew annually.
You can cancel the subscription at any time. See Managing and disconnecting domains for details. Cancelling it will turn the automatic renewal off, but you can still use the domain for the paid duration.
How many designs can I publish to each purchased domain?
All users can publish unlimited websites to every domain purchased via Canva.

Whois lists all domains in the world and their registered owners’ contact details.
When you buy domains through Canva, we give you Whois Protection. This hides your contact details from the Whois registry, and prevents you from being spammed.
