Add and customise dates in your design

Add dates in your design to track deadlines and key events. This helps keep your schedule organised and easy to reference.

Adding dates is only available in Canva Sheets and Docs.

Adding dates to your design

Select the cell (in Canva Sheets) or the spot on the page (in Canva Docs) where you want to insert a date.
In the floating toolbar, click the number format (123 icon) or Actions.
Select
Date. A date pill will automatically appear in your design. Alternatively, type /date to insert a date.
Click the date pill and choose a date from the calendar. You can also type:
- /today to insert the current date.
- /tomorrow for the next day.
- /yesterday for the previous day.

To manually enter a date in Canva Sheets, use the MM/DD/YYYY format.

Select the date that you want to customise.
In the floating toolbar, select the font format that you want to apply. Learn more about formatting text

Select the date that you want to format.
In the floating toolbar, select
number format.
Select More formats.
Under Number formats, select Date formats.
Choose your preferred date format:
- Month Day, Year: Jan 1, 2025
- Month/Day/Year: 1/1/2025
- Month Year: Jan 2025

Your date format may not match your regional settings. Ensure you are entering dates in the MM/DD/YYYY format.

Canva follows your device or browser’s regional settings. If your dates appear incorrectly:

Check your device’s date format in system settings.
Verify your browser’s language and region settings.
Try re-entering the date in a different format (e.g., MM/DD/YYYY if using U.S. settings).
