Blur photos


Blur photos to hide distracting background details or draw attention to a specific subject. Apply blur to the entire image for a soft effect, or use the Brush tool to blur specific areas.

Blur a photo from the Projects tab

  1. From the homepage, go to Projects, then select All projects.
  2. Go to Images.
  3. Hover over the photo you want to edit, then select
    (More).
  4. Select Edit image.
  5. Go to Tools, then select See all.
  6. Select Blur. From here, choose whether to blur a specific area or the entire photo.

Blur a photo in your design

  1. Select the photo you want to edit.
  2. From the editor toolbar, select Edit.
  3. Go to Tools, then select See all.
  4. Select Blur. From here, choose whether to blur a specific area or the entire photo.

Blur options

Blur a specific area (Brush tab)

  1. Adjust the Brush size and Intensity sliders.
  2. Select and drag over the area you want to blur.
  3. To undo, select the Remove brush and paint over the blurred areas.

Blur the entire photo (Whole image tab)

  • Drag the Intensity slider to adjust the blur strength for the entire image.

Good to know

  • Combine methods: For a creative effect, blur the whole image first. Then, go to the Brush tab and use the Remove brush to bring a subject back into sharp focus.
  • File types: The Blur tool works on flat images like PNGs and JPGs. It isn’t available for vector graphics or elements.
  • Videos: The Blur tool isn’t available for video designs.
