Set the quality of Canva AI-generated content
You can choose the quality level for artificial intelligence (AI) generated photos and videos in Canva. Select from three tiers: Standard, Premium, or Ultra. Each tier balances your AI usage and quality.
Understanding AI quality tiers
Canva offers three AI quality tiers:
- Standard: Good quality that consumes fewer AI allowance. Available to all.
- Premium: Balances great quality and efficiency that’s ideal for most tasks. This is the default for all.
- Ultra: Highest quality for photos and videos. Consumes AI allowance faster and is available to paid plans only.
Check which tiers are included in your plan
Your Canva plan determines which AI quality tiers you can use:
- For Canva Free plans: Standard and Premium tiers are available.
- For Canva Paid plans (Canva Pro, Canva Teams, Canva Business, Canva Enterprise, and Canva Education): All three tiers are available.

Which AI tiers are available for each content type?
AI tiers by content type:
- Photos: Available across Standard, Premium, and Ultra
