Use Canva AI to refine designs through conversation
Canva AI lets you edit your designs through conversation. Describe what you want to change, and the agent reads your design, figures out the edits, and applies them directly on the canvas.
It's available on Canva Pro, Canva Business, and Canva Enterprise on desktop and mobile.
This isn't available for everyone just yet. We're working on it, and we’ll get it to you soon!

Edit a design with Canva AI
You can use Conversational design in Canva AI to make direct edits to your design.
- Open a design in the editor.
- Select the Canva AI tab in the sidebar.
- Type a prompt describing what you want to change. For example, "Make all headlines blue" or "Add a background that matches the brand."
- Wait for Canva AI 2.0 to analyse your design and start making changes.
- Review the result. Continue the conversation to refine or ask for more changes.
- To stop the agent mid-task, select the Stop button while it's processing. You can then type a new prompt or make manual edits.
Use Web Research in Canva AI to find the latest information on your topic.
Tips for better results
- Try different prompt styles. General prompts like "make it better" work well, and you can also get specific with "make the headline larger and change the background to blue."
- Start with simpler designs. The agent works best on less complex layouts. Multi-layered designs may produce lower-quality results.
- Break large requests into smaller steps. This helps the agent process your changes faster.
Canva AI made changes I didn't expect
What can cause this
Canva AI interprets your prompt and makes design decisions on its own. Open-ended prompts like "make it better" may lead to broader changes than you intended.
What to do
- Use a more specific prompt. Include details like color, size, or position.
- Describe elements clearly. For example, "the large blue heading on page 1" or "the image in the top corner."
- Undo changes using Ctrl+Z (Windows) or Cmd+Z (Mac), then try again with a clearer prompt.
Tip: The more specific your prompt, the better the agent can target the right elements.
Canva AI is slow or seems stuck
What can cause this
Complex designs or long conversations can take more time to process.
What to do
- Select the Stop button to interrupt the agent.
- Type a simpler, more focused prompt.
- If the agent appears stuck and the Stop button doesn't respond, refresh the page and try again.
