Setting up and using Brand Kit colour palettes
Create and manage colour palettes and colour themes from your Brand Kit to help you or your team create designs with on-brand colour schemes.
Colour palettes define your brand’s set of colours, while colour themes define how those colours are applied across your design.
For teams, only owners, administrators, and brand designers can create and edit brand colour palettes.
Create and edit brand Colour palettes
- From the homepage side panel, select Brand.
- If there are multiple Brand Kits, select the one you want to edit from the dropdown.
- Select Colours. From there, you can do the following:
- Add a new Colour palette: Select (Add to category), and select Add palette.
- Add a colour to an existing palette: Select Add new and pick a colour. To apply colour gradients to your brand colours, please see Creating and using colour gradients.
- Delete colour from palette: Hover over the colour tile, and select .
- Rename palette: Click on its current name to edit it.
- Delete palette: Click the (more icon) across the current palette name, and select Delete palette. If you only have one palette, you’ll be unable to delete it. You need at least one palette in your Brand Kit.
Add colour themes
Colour themes let you define how colours work together across backgrounds, elements, and text. When you apply a theme, these colours update together.
Use colour palettes to store your brand colours, and colour themes to apply them consistently across your designs.
You can generate colour themes from Brand Template suggestions or extract them from existing designs.
To create and apply colour themes, see Add and apply colour themes in Brand Kit.
Created colour palettes will be available on the Canva editor for easy access. For teams, palettes will be available to all members.
- Canva Free users can only have one colour palette, with up to three colours.
- Canva Pro, Canva Teams, Canva Business, Canva Education, Canva Enterprise, and Canva for Nonprofits users can create 100 palettes, with up to 100 colours each.
- Canva Teams, Canva Business, and Canva Enterprise admins can set up Brand Controls to restrict your team’s access to only your brand palettes.
- Colour themes are available on Canva Pro, Canva Teams, Canva Business, Canva Education, Canva Enterprise, and Canva for Nonprofits.
