Avoid and clear content ID claims
Music or audio licences are automatically created when you export a Canva design. You might get a Content ID claim when you use Canva’s premium audio in a video you upload to YouTube, Facebook, or Instagram. This can happen when your audio license isn’t properly verified with the platform.
Understand Content ID claims
Content ID is a system used by platforms like YouTube and Meta (Facebook/Instagram) to detect copyrighted audio in videos.
A claim doesn’t always mean you did something wrong. If you have a valid license, you can usually resolve the claim by providing your license details during the platform’s dispute or appeal process.
Prevent Content ID claims
Connect your social accounts (before you download)
If you're planning to upload your design to YouTube, Facebook, or Instagram, connect your social account to Canva before downloading. This helps the platform see your audio license. It can also prevent automatic copyright claims.
- Open your design in the editor.
- Select Share, then choose See all.
- Under Social, select the platform you want to upload to.
- Select Open, then choose Connect.
- Log in to the same account you’ll use to upload your video.
- Finish downloading your design.
If you already downloaded without connecting: Make a copy of your design, then download the copy after connecting your account.
Use the same audio in multiple videos
Each Canva design generates one audio license. If you want to use the same audio track in multiple videos, you'll need a separate license for each video.
- Open the original design.
- Select File then Make a copy.
- Use the copied design for the new video.
- Download the copy (with your social account connected).
Check if the audio track allows commercial use
Use music from Canva’s library marked Commercial use allowed. To check:
- Open the design and find the track in the Elements or Audio tab.
- Select More.
- Look for “Commercial use allowed” to confirm it’s stock music.
