Download file names for Canva designs
When you download a design from Canva, the file will usually have the same name as your design.
- For example, if your design is called “My Design” and you download it as a JPG, the file will be named “My Design.jpg.”
- If you download the same design again, your device by default adds a number to the name, like “My Design(1).jpg.”
This works fine for most people, but if you download lots of files, the names can get confusing.
- On the Canva Desktop App, you'll see a "Save As" prompt each time you download. This lets you rename your file and choose a save location, making it easier to organise your downloads.
- On the Canva Web App, your browser may save files automatically. If you'd prefer to choose a name or location each time, check your browser's settings to enable prompts.

On downloading multiple pages from a design
When downloading multiple pages as separate images, Canva automatically creates a ZIP file:
- The ZIP file is named after your design.
- The files inside are named based on their page number or title.
For example, if you download pages “1,” “2,” and “3 - FB Format” from a design named “My Design,” the ZIP file will be named “My Design.zip.” Inside, you’ll find:
- “1.jpg”
- “2.jpg”
- “FB Format.jpg”
Currently, you can rename the ZIP file before saving, but it’s not possible to rename the files inside the ZIP during the download process.
