Change currency format by language in Canva Sheets
Canva Sheets automatically applies regional formatting based on your language settings. This includes currency symbols, number separators, and date formats.
Change currency format by language
- Select the cells you want to format.
- Select Number Format, then choose More formats.
- Under Number formats, scroll and select a currency style.
- To update your default currency settings, select Change number format settings.
- Choose your preferred locale, then click Select locale.
- Go back and reapply the Currency format to see the update.
Regional formatting behaviour
We support various regional formats for currency, dates, and numbers:
- Date formats adjust automatically:
- DD/MM/YYYY (e.g., Brazil, Indonesia, Mexico)
- MM/DD/YYYY (e.g., USA, Philippines)
- YYYY/MM/DD is not supported at launch
- Number separators vary by locale:
- Comma for thousands, point for decimals (e.g., USA, India)
- Point for thousands, comma for decimals (e.g., Brazil, Germany)
- Space for thousands, comma for decimals (e.g., France)
- Currency symbols are localized:
- Canva supports major currencies like USD, EUR, GBP, INR, JPY, BRL, and more
- Some countries using “$” (e.g., Mexico, Argentina, Canada) may show a generic “Dollar” label
