Get design approval

Design approvals ensure that the designs you’ve created are brand-compliant and align with the requirements outlined by your Canva Enterprise admins before publishing.

When design approval is enabled

There are two options for design approvals

  • Required – Designs must be approved before they can be published
  • Optional – Team members can request approval, but it's not mandatory for publishing

Request design approval

Get design approval

  1. Open the design that needs review.
  2. From the editor menu bar, select Share.
  3. Select
    Request approval.
  4. Select a reviewer.
  5. Set due date (optional).
  6. Add notes (optional).
  7. Select Request approval.
  8. To cancel the submission, click Withdraw submission.

The approver will be notified via email and through the

Notifications tab on the homepage about your request.

Only Canva Enterprise users can have multiple approvers. Learn more about Canva Enterprise.

Check design approval status

You can find designs you submitted for review in the Approvals - Your submissions tab on the homepage. You can use the filters to view the approval status.

  • All approvals - all designs submitted for approval
  • Approved – designs that have been approved
  • Awaiting review – designs awaiting approval
  • Needs changes – designs with feedback

Design is approved

Once your design is approved, the publish options unlock. If you edit the design, it needs to be approved again. Approvers can make changes at any time without needing reapproval.

Design is given feedback

If you receive feedback, make the suggested edits and request approval again. You won’t be able to publish the design until it’s approved.
