Adjust image and video settings
Adjust the brightness, contrast, saturation, perspective, and other properties of the photos and videos in your designs. You can also isolate photo adjustments to the background or foreground and colour-edit an object in your image.
To adjust your uploaded photos and videos, use the adjust tab in the Canva photo editor and video editor, respectively.
Adjust image settings
- Select the photo you want to edit.
- Select Edit.
- Under Tools, select Adjust.
- Select an option under Select area:
- All adjusts the entire image.
- Click lets you select specific areas.
- Brush lets you paint over areas to adjust.
- Foreground adjusts the main subject.
- Background adjusts everything behind the subject.
- To adjust, drag the sliders under each setting.
For faster workflow, select Auto-adjust or choose a filter. To remove your changes, select Reset adjustment.
Edit colours on images
- On the editor, click on the image you’d like to edit. You can also select images added to grids and frames.
- Select one of the colour boxes on the Quick Actions Toolbar.
- On the Colour side panel, you can select your preferred colours under Document colours, Photo colours, or Default colours. Your brand palettes will appear as an option as well.
- For more detailed edits, click Edit.
- To give your image a quick fix, go to Adjust and select Auto-adjust. You can still adjust the intensity after.
- To invert your photo’s colours, toggle Invert on. To revert the photo to its original colours, toggle Invert off.
- Under Select area, you can choose to adjust the specific parts of a photo. Select Whole image, Foreground, or Background if you only want to edit these specific parts of the photo.
- Scroll down and go to the Colour section. From here you’ll see a tiny version of the image and colour boxes representing the colours from your image.
- Select the colour box you’d like to change.
- Drag the colour sliders to adjust according to hue, saturation, and brightness. You’ll see the colours changing on the editor as you adjust them.
- If you’re not happy with the changes, select Reset adjustments. If all looks good, you can just click anywhere or move to another image or page
Adjust photo perspective
- From the homepage, go to Your Designs.
- Go to Images tab.
- Select the image you want to edit.
- Select Crop.
- On the side toolbar, go to Perspective.
- Adjust the image’s perspective horizontally or vertically by dragging the sliders.
This is an early version (beta release) of our video settings feature. We’ll improve it over time, depending on how you use it and your feedback.
Adjust video settings
To undo the settings adjustment, select Reset.
To save the changes, click or tap anywhere.
- Select the video you want to edit.
- Select Edit, and then Adjust.
- Drag the sliders under each setting to adjust them. Drag to the left to decrease a setting’s intensity and drag to the right to increase it.
For faster workflow, select Auto-adjust or choose a filter, then select Apply to all media. To remove your changes, select Reset adjustment.
Apply the same settings to multiple images
Use the copy style feature to easily copy and paste image settings to multiple images.
This feature is only currently available when using Canva on a computer.
- Click the image whose settings you want to copy.
- On the editor toolbar at the top of the screen, click the paint roller icon.
- Click on another image to apply the copied image settings.
- Repeat the process from Step 2 to apply to other images.
