Generate Magic Charts in Canva Sheets
Before you start, make sure to import and sync your data in Canva Sheets.
Once your data are set up, you can begin visualising it directly within the spreadsheet using Magic Charts. Here’s how:

- Open your spreadsheet in Canva Sheets.
- Highlight the relevant data you want to visualize.
- Click on Actions from the floating toolbar. Then select Magic Charts.
- From the side panel, select the chart that best represents your data. This chart will be added directly to your spreadsheet.
- As you update your data, any changes to the linked data will automatically sync with the chart.
View Magic Chart’s data source
After adding your chart, Canva Sheets will display a Chart Source label under Data. This shows exactly where your chart’s data comes from in the spreadsheet.
To view or confirm the source:
- Click the chart to open the toolbar, then select Edit.
- In the side panel, you’ll see the source title and the exact data location in the spreadsheet.
- Click the icon ( More ) next to the source title to manage your chart data connection. You’ll see options to:
- Edit Data Source
- Review which cells are linked to the chart. Or,
- Click on Select a sheet to change data source.
- Open linked source – Open the source data directly in Canva Sheets.
- Disconnect from Source – Unlink the chart from the spreadsheet data
Note: If you disconnect the chart from the data source, the chart will no longer be linked to the original data and will not update if you change the spreadsheet data.
