Missing designs

Can't find a design? Let's check what happened, starting with the most common causes.

The Recents page shows all your recently opened designs and brand templates in one place.

1. From the homepage, select See all in the Recent designs section, or go directly to Projects and select Recents.
2. Use the search bar to find your design by name or keywords.

All your Canva designs are stored under Projects. Try:

• Searching by name or keyword
• Sorting by most recently edited
• Filtering by owner

Sometimes, missing designs are simply in another account. You may have signed up for Canva using different emails (for example, your work and personal accounts) or through Google, Facebook, or Apple.

Here’s how to check:

1. Sign out of Canva completely.
2. Try logging back in using your other email addresses or sign-in methods.
3. Once logged in, open
   Projects again to look for your design.

Tip: If you can’t remember your password, reset it from the login page.

If you’re part of more than one Canva team, your design may be saved in a different team’s workspace.

To check:

Team admins or owners can move designs, videos, images, or templates to different folders, or delete folders or designs for organisational purposes. See Team roles and permissions for what each role can do.

To check, open Notifications in Canva and look for admin updates. If the design was moved, you'll find it in its new folder.

If it looks like it was deleted, whether by you or an admin, what happens next depends on whether it's still in Trash:

Designs stay in Trash for 30 days. To recover:

1. Go to More, select Projects, and then Trash.
2. Find your design and select Restore.

After that recovery window, the design can't normally be recovered.

If you've been removed from a team, you'll lose access to designs you created or were shared with you there.

Check with your team admin to confirm your status. If you've been removed by mistake, they can re-add you so you regain access to your designs.

If someone else created the design and shared it with you, it won't appear under "Your designs."

To find shared designs:

1. Go to More, and then select Projects.
2. From the left menu, select Shared with you.

You'll now see any designs others have shared with you or your team.

If a team has been deleted by its owner, all its designs are scheduled for deletion after 14 days.

If this happens, team members receive an email letting them know that the team has been deleted and they no longer have access to the team or its designs.

If the deletion was a mistake, contact your team owner. If it's still within 14 days, they can restore the team and you'll regain access to the team's designs. After 14 days, the team and its designs are permanently deleted.

Deleted folders don't appear in Trash the way designs do, so the folder itself can't be restored once it's gone. But what's inside it may still be recoverable, and there are a few different reasons a folder might look missing:

• Its contents were moved, not deleted. Team admins can move designs out of a folder. If the designs were moved, search for them in Projects by name.
• The folder was deleted, but its contents might not be. Go to More, select Projects, and then Trash, and look for the individual designs that were inside it. You can restore them and move them into a new folder.
• If the individual designs aren’t in Trash, contact us to get help.
• You might have lost access, not lost the folder. If someone else owns it, or you were removed from the team it belongs to, contact the folder owner or your team admin.
