Log in faster and more securely with a Passkey

Add an easy and more secure way of accessing your Canva account by creating a Passkey on your device. Once created, you can log in with your fingerprint, face scan, or screen lock to verify it's you.

An individual Passkey must be created to log in this way on any device you own. A limit of one passkey can be created per device.

Quick tip

Frequently asked questions (FAQs)

What are Passkeys and how do they work?

Passkeys are like digital keys that are more secure and easier to use than passwords. They replace your password with your fingerprint, face scan, or screen lock to verify it's you.

I'm having trouble logging in with my Passkey and encountered an error. What steps should I take?

There’s a possibility that the Passkey has been removed. Try logging in using the original method you used to register. Once you gain access, navigate to your account settings page, and under Account & security, remove any existing Passkey linked to your device, then create a new one.

Another reason for the issue could be that the Passkey was generated on a different device. Here are a couple of solutions:

  • If the Passkey is shared via iCloud, Google Password Manager, or 1Password, log in to your account on the device to make the Passkey accessible.
  • Alternatively, you can use the QR code method, as detailed in: Create a Passkey on a device that's not your own
  • If the Passkey is not shared, you can select another authentication option.

If I remove a Passkey on a device, can I create a new one again on the device?

Yes, if you've previously had a Passkey and it was removed, you will be able to create a new one.

Still can’t log in with your passkey?

If you’ve tried the steps above and still can’t log in using your passkey, use our account recovery form to request access to your account.
