Can’t use premium (Pro/Teams/Business) features

If you're using Canva Pro, Canva Teams, or Canva Business but can't access paid features, there might be an issue with your plan, or you might be on the wrong account or team. Here are some things to check.

Canva Teams is no longer available for new sign-ups or upgrades. The information related to Teams on this page only applies to existing Canva Teams subscribers.

Step 1 - Find which account holds your subscription

The most common cause is being logged into the wrong account. This usually happens if you've signed up using different email addresses (personal vs. work) or through social logins (Google, Apple, Facebook).

  • Check for your designs and other content first. If designs are also missing, you're likely on the wrong account.
  • Try logging into your accounts one by one. Go to
Settings, under Payments and plans, select
Billing to check if each account has an active plan.
  • If you can't remember your login details, reset your password from the login page.

How to identify which account holds your subscription

Check the email address you used when you paid. Look at your bank statement, PayPal account, or the email where you received your Canva invoice. That email is linked to your subscription.

You can also use this tool to locate the account tied to your invoice and learn about an unfamiliar transaction. It can find payments made using a credit card or PayPal.

Signing in with Google, Apple, Facebook, or email creates a separate Canva account each time. If you’ve used more than one of these to sign in, you may have multiple accounts, and your subscription will only be linked to one account.

Step 2 - Switch to the correct team

If you have multiple teams, your subscription may be on a different team from the one you're currently in.

  • Go to your profile icon on Home. For mobile, select Menu, then your profile icon.
  • If you see a Switch team section, select the team with your active plan.
  • To confirm the team has an active plan, go to
Settings, under Payments and plans, select
    Billing.

Education accounts show as Free - this is expected

If you access Canva through a school or institution, your account type may show as “Free” even when you have Canva for Education access. This is because education access is linked to your institution’s team, not your individual account. Switch to your school’s team to access your full features.

If you’re a teacher and can’t see your school’s team, contact your school’s IT administrator to be added.

Removed from a team

Your team admins can add or remove people at any time. If you’ve been removed from a team subscribed to Canva Teams or Canva Business, you lose access to the plan and its features. Contact your team admins to be added again.

Step 3 - Check your subscription status

Common statuses that may lead to losing access to Pro features:

Your subscription has ended

When you cancel your plan, you can use premium features until your paid period ends. Your account becomes a Free plan after that. To use premium features again, subscribe again at any time.

You have an unpaid subscription fee

Canva Pro, Canva Teams, and Canva Business plans automatically renew. If a payment fails, we retry the charge several times within 16 days of the original billing date. Update your payment details to pay the outstanding balance and resume your plan.

You saw an error message

If you see “Looks like you already have a subscription of this type”, try logging out and then logging back into your account. This can refresh your session.

Step 4 - Troubleshoot common issues

If you’re still having trouble accessing Canva Pro, Canva Teams, or Canva Education features, here are common fixes to try:

  1. You’re signed in to the wrong account - Sign out, then sign in with the email linked to your subscription.
  2. You’re in the wrong team - Go to your account menu, then select the team with the premium plan.
  3. Your app store payment didn’t sync - In the Canva app, go to Account settings, then select Restore purchases.
  4. Restore purchases isn’t working - Make sure you’re signed in with the Apple ID or Google account you used to subscribe. If you’re still having trouble, try uninstalling and reinstalling the Canva app.
  5. Your browser needs a refresh - Clear your browser cache and cookies, then sign in again.
  6. Your payment failed, and the plan was cancelled - Go to
Billing to update your payment method. If your plan was cancelled, you may be eligible for a refund.
  7. You purchased from an unauthorised seller - Cancel and request a refund from the third-party seller. Then start a new subscription through Canva.
  8. There’s a technical issue - Try logging out and back in, or switching browsers or devices. If the issue continues, contact us to get help.

If you’re sure there was a mistake with the charge you received, contact us to get help.
