Reduce motion settings for animations and transitions
You can use the Reduce motion setting to limit animations and transitions when viewing or presenting designs. This helps make your designs more inclusive for team members with motion sensitivities or vestibular disorders.
When Reduce motion is on, design animations are reduced, and transitions, background animations, masks, and overlays are removed.
We're rolling out navigation changes gradually, so some steps in this Help article may not accurately reflect what you see in the app. If you can't find Canva AI, your profile photo, or your Print cart on the homepage, go to More.
Reduce screen motion for all designs
You can apply motion reduction to every design you view or present by updating your account settings.
- From the homepage, select your profile icon.
- Go to Settings.
- Select Accessibility.
- Open the Reduce motion when you view and present designs dropdown.
- Choose Reduce motion on or Use my system preferences.
Note: This setting applies only to your account. Team members collaborating on the same design will see animations based on their own settings.
Reduce screen motion for selected designs
If you only need to reduce motion while working in the editor, you can toggle it on or off for that specific session.
- From the editor, select File, then choose Accessibility.
- Select Reduce motion to turn it on or off. You’ll know the reduce motion setting is on when you see a checkmark.
Note: Reduce motion applies only to your account. Anyone collaborating on the design will see animations based on their own settings.
Reduce screen motion when viewing (via public view link)
If you receive a public view link for a design, you can still manage motion settings even if you’re not logged into a Canva account.
- Open the view link.
- Hover on the bottom of the page and select More.
- Select Reduce motion. A checkmark will confirm that the setting is on.
Limitations
- Reduce motion affects playback only, not editing or exporting.
- Animations may still appear in downloaded video files.
- Reduce motion doesn’t apply to other collaborators unless they enable it in their own settings.
- Some interactive elements may appear simplified with motion reduction enabled.
