Request signatures on documents
You can send documents to others for electronic signature directly from Canva. You can add signature fields and track who has signed, all in one place. Signed copies are stored in your Canva account. Signers who receive the requests don't need a Canva account to sign.
You can send signature requests with Canva Business or Canva Enterprise. If you're on a Free, Pro, or Teams plan, you'll be prompted to upgrade when you try to send a signature request.

Before you start
This feature supports simple electronic signatures (SES), but not certified or qualified signatures. Signed documents don't attach a signing summary or built-in tamper-evidence.
Canva is the signing platform, not a party to your agreement, and doesn't check whether your document or process meets the legal requirements needed for the signature to be enforceable.
All Canva Business and Canva Enterprise users can send signature requests. Admin approval, permission settings, and centralised oversight of signature requests aren't currently available.
Each signer receives a unique signing link by email. However, access to the link doesn't confirm someone's identity. Make sure each signer is who they say they are and is authorised to sign.
Note: Anyone with access to the link, email inbox, or Canva account can send signature requests on your behalf. Keep your login details secure and don’t share them.
Before sending a document for signature, make sure electronic signing suits the document, the people signing it, and the relevant jurisdiction. Some documents or jurisdictions may require witnessing, identity verification, certificates, or other signing requirements that this feature doesn’t provide. If you're unsure what applies, get independent legal advice.
If you're asking someone to sign a document, particularly in the US, you may need to provide specific disclosures and get their consent before they sign electronically. As the sender, make sure you meet any requirements that apply.
For details on how your information is handled, see Canva's Privacy Policy.
Send a signature request
- Open or create a document in Canva.
- From the editor, select the Elements tab.
- Enter "Signature" in the search bar.
- Select Create.
- Add signature, date, or text fields where you want signers to complete them.
- Assign each field to a signer by selecting the field and choosing the signer from the options.
- You can also add another signer.
- Select Request signature.
- Enter each signer's name and email address (up to 30 per request).
- Add an optional message and/or set an expiry date, then select Send request.
Each signer receives an email with a link to review, sign, or decline the request.
Once you send the request, the document is locked and can't be edited. To make changes, you'll need to withdraw the request first.
Also, if your document contains someone else's signature, you can't send a signature request until you replace it with a signature field assigned to that person.
Track and manage signature requests
Check a request's status
- From the Canva homepage, select Projects.
- Select Signature Requests.
- Select a document to view its status.
Canva doesn't automatically send reminders for pending signature requests.
Withdraw a request
- From the Canva homepage, select Projects.
- Select Signature Requests.
- Select the document and choose Withdraw.
This cancels the request and makes the signing link unavailable for all recipients.
Access your signed documents
Once everyone has signed, both you and your signers can access the completed document from the completion email via a link. You can also find your signed documents in Projects, under Signature Requests.
Download and save a copy of your document once it's signed, especially if you plan to close your Canva account. Canva keeps completed documents while your account is active.

FAQs
Who can send signature requests?
Signature requests are available to Canva Business and Canva Enterprise users. If you're on a Free, Pro, or Teams plan, you'll see an option to upgrade when you try to send a signature request.
Do signers need a Canva account?
No. Signers (whether a Canva user or a guest signer) receive an email with a link to review and sign the document.
What if I need to send to more than 30 people?
A single request supports up to 30 signers. If you need more, make a copy of the document and send a separate request to the remaining people.
Can I edit a document after sending it for signature?
No. Once sent, the document locks. To make changes, withdraw the request first. This makes the signing link unavailable for all recipients. You can then edit the document and send a new request.
How long can I access a completed document?
Completed documents will be stored in your account in your Projects folder, under Signature Requests.
Make sure to download and keep a copy for your records, as Canva doesn't guarantee that completed documents will be retained indefinitely.
Is a signature made this way legally binding?
Electronic signature requirements vary depending on the jurisdiction and type of document. Some documents or jurisdictions may have specific requirements. If you're unsure what applies, get independent legal advice.
If you're sending a signature request to a consumer in the US, you may need to provide specific disclosures and get their consent before they sign electronically. You're responsible for meeting these requirements.
Some documents or jurisdictions have specific requirements. You're responsible for determining whether electronic signing is appropriate for your situation. For more details, see the eSignature Terms.
Does Canva verify the assigned signers?
We send a unique signing link to the email address you enter, and we check that the link was delivered there and used to sign. We don't verify who the signer is. Anyone with access to the link or inbox could sign.
You're responsible for confirming that each signer is who they say they are and has the authority to sign.
