Share on social media and messaging apps

Share your Canva designs directly through supported social media, messaging, and publishing integrations.

  • For Canva Education, publishing is off by default. Ask your admin to enable it.
  • Publishing to Content Planner isn't available in multi-design documents yet. As a workaround, copy the page into a new, single-design document. Learn more about multi-designs.
  • Each design can be scheduled to one social media post at a time.

Get started with sharing designs on social media apps

Connect your social media and messaging accounts to Canva to share designs directly from the editor. Once connected, you can publish, schedule, and manage posts on the social media app without leaving Canva.

Before you share

To prevent issues, make sure:

  • Your file type is supported (e.g., MP4 for video)
  • Your design meets size and format limits
  • The app is available in the Share menu

If a particular app isn't showing up, or if a share isn't going through, see Sharing on social media and messaging limitations, for more information.

Step 1: Connect your social media and messaging accounts

Connect your social media and messaging accounts to Canva to share designs directly from the editor.

Permissions and access

When you connect an account, Canva asks for permission to publish content on your behalf through that platform. If sharing doesn’t work as expected:

Connect an account

The first time you share on a platform, you’ll be asked to sign in. Once connected, your account will stay linked until you remove it.

  1. In the top corner above the editor, click
    Share.
  2. Select
    See all.
  3. Select the app you want to use. If you can’t find it in the options, use the search bar to look for it.
  4. Select Connect and log in. If the app asks for access to Canva, allow it.
  5. The flow for publishing designs varies by platform. You may have an option to add a caption or message, and you may be required to select a specific page if your design has multiple pages.
  • Some apps limit sharing to one page or only allow certain types of media and file sizes. Learn more about sharing limitations.
  • You can revoke app access at any time from your Settings.
  • Sharing availability and steps may change at any time and are managed by third-party platforms. For example, when an app updates its permissions or pauses its integration with Canva. If this happens, we recommend checking the platform's help centre for the latest info.

Connect multiple accounts

You can connect multiple accounts for most platforms. This is useful if you manage content for different brands or clients.

Available on Canva Pro, Canva Teams, Canva Business, Canva Enterprise, Canva Education, and Canva for Nonprofits.

Supported platforms may change over time as integrations are updated. Here are some of the platforms currently supporting multiple accounts based on your Canva plan:

  • Facebook
  • LinkedIn
  • X (formerly Twitter)
  • Pinterest
  • Tumblr

Note: For platforms or plans that allow only one connected account, you'll need to disconnect first before connecting another.

  1. In the top corner above the editor, click
    Share.
  2. Select
    See all.
  3. Select the app you want to use. If you can’t find it in the options, use the
search bar to look for it.
  4. Click the dropdown that displays the account you’re connected to.
  5. Click
    Connect new account.
  6. Log in to the account you’d like to add. If the app asks for access to Canva, allow it.

Once connected, you’ll see the new social media account in the dropdown options.

You can also connect to other social media accounts from the Content Planner. Learn more about the Content Planner and scheduling social media posts.

Share without connecting an account

If you’re sharing to Kakao on mobile, you can share directly from Canva without connecting an account first.

Step 2: Share or schedule your design

After connecting your social media accounts, you can publish or schedule your designs directly from Canva.

Depending on your social media platform, you may be able to:

  • Publish immediately
  • Schedule posts with Content Planner
  • Add captions or titles
  • Select specific pages from multi-page designs

The sharing experience may vary between platforms. Some apps support videos, multi-page designs, or scheduling, while others only support single-image posts.

You’ll only need to sign in the first time you share. Your account will stay connected until you remove it.

Note: For mobile, you may need to give Canva access to your camera or gallery to share designs on social media or messaging apps.

Switch between social media accounts

If you’ve connected multiple accounts, you can easily switch between them before sharing your design.

  • After choosing your social media and messaging platform, switch between your connected accounts before publishing.

Disconnect your social media account

Unlink your social media accounts from Canva. Check out Disconnect linked accounts, services, and apps to learn more.

Troubleshoot connection issues

Can’t connect your account

  • Check your login details
  • Make sure pop-ups are enabled in your browser

Account disconnected

FAQ

Why do sharing options vary by apps?

After you choose an app, the rest of the flow is managed by that app, not by Canva. This means:

  • Different posting options: Some apps let you schedule posts using Content Planner, while others only publish immediately.
  • Different content support: Some platforms support videos and multi-page designs, while others only accept single images.
  • Different limits: App platforms can have their own limits on caption length, file size, and more. Each app sets its own rules for captions, file size, duration, and number of pages.
  • For example:
    • Instagram may limit caption length and prefers square or vertical formats
    • TikTok may require vertical video and has duration limits
    • Messaging apps like WhatsApp may send large designs as links instead of files

Not sure what works best? See Sharing on social media and messaging limitations for more info.

If your experience looks different from a tutorial or what someone else sees, it usually means the platform has updated its features or sharing requirements. For example, the app may have changed permissions or paused its integration. In that case, head over to that app and check their help resources, or get in touch with our team.
