Test your microphone and camera in Canva
Check your microphone and camera before recording
Test your microphone and camera before recording, and troubleshoot any issues when using Canva's recording features.
The diagnostic tool is available on all platforms where recording is supported, including the Canva desktop app, browser, and mobile. You can use it to test your camera and microphone before using features like Record yourself, Screen Recorder, or Present and record.
- Select Allow access. If a permission alert appears, select Allow.
- On the diagnostic tool below, choose your video and microphone source from the dropdown.
- Once you’ve granted access to Canva, select Start testing.
The diagnostic tool runs locally on your device. Canva doesn’t collect or store any audio during testing.
Fix microphone or camera issues
If the test fails or you’re having issues with the diagnostic tool, try the following:
- Check system permissions: Go to your computer's Settings and make sure Canva has access to your microphone and camera.
- Restart your computer: This can help re-establish device connections.
- Ensure devices are connected
- For USB microphones or webcams, check that they’re securely plugged in.
- For built-in devices, check if another app is using them.
- Check mute and volume settings: Some microphones have physical mute switches or low input volume.
- Try another app: Open another video conferencing tool to see if your microphone or camera works there. This helps confirm if the issue is with your device or Canva.
FAQs
Why is my camera still not working in Canva? Another app might be using your camera. Close any video conferencing or screen recording apps, then try again.
Do I need to test my devices every time? No, but it's helpful if you’ve recently changed system settings, updated your OS, or plugged in a new device.
