Updates to Our Contributor Agreement (Jan 2026)

We’re making updates to the Contributor Agreement to help maintain a thriving, high-performing creative ecosystem and ensure Canva’s library remains inspiring, relevant, and valuable to our users. These updates clarify program expectations, improve transparency, and support the new review framework that underpins long-term library quality.

Clearer program expectations

We’ve added a new Purpose clause, clarified that Template Creators are expected to submit templates, and confirmed that contributor accounts cannot be sold, shared, or transferred. We’ve also introduced new Quality & Participation Standards, which will guide our new review process. Contributors who don’t meet these Standards over consecutive review cycles may have submissions limited or be removed from the program. We encourage all contributors to review them carefully.

More transparent review & enforcement

We’ve reorganised and clarified how content and accounts may be limited or removed, making the process easier to understand and more consistent across the program.

Clarified existing AI content rules

AI-generated content isn’t permitted, and we’ve clarified how content may be reviewed, including with automated tools.

Improved privacy & compliance controls

Creator Brands can now manage AI/ML opt-outs in their Privacy Settings, in addition to the existing form. We’ve also added updates to support future tax, sanctions, and financial-crime compliance requirements.

You can read the full updated Contributor Agreement and the new Quality & Participation Standards for more details. The changes will take effect from 14 January 2026.

If you keep your templates or elements published on Canva, we’ll take it that you’re okay with the changes.
