Create a presentation with Canva AI
With Canva AI, you can start your presentation by describing your idea, outline, slides, or content. Once your draft is ready, you can add details and personalize it.

Access Canva AI
You can access Canva AI from the homepage or inside the editor by selecting Canva AI on the side navigation on desktop, or on the bottom menu on mobile.
Use Canva AI to draft presentations
- From the Canva homepage, select Canva AI on the side navigation.
- Select Design from the options below the AI bar, then choose Presentation.
- Enter a prompt describing your presentation topic.
- If you want to make changes, select each section on the outline and edit the key ideas. You can also add, delete, or move sections using drag handle
- Select Generate presentation to create your presentation.
Use Web Research in Canva AI to find the latest information on your topic.
You can only get presentation outlines when you generate presentations from Canva AI on the Homepage. When generating presentations from the Template tab on the editor, you may see fewer options.
Use Edit with AI to generate from templates
You can generate a presentation by selecting a template and using Edit with AI. Describe what you want, and Canva AI creates a design based on your prompt and the template's style. The more detail you add to your prompt, the closer the design will be to what you want.
Edit with AI works with presentations, social media posts, and print designs.
From the Templates tab
- Open a design in the Canva editor.
- Go to the Templates tab.
- Search for a template.
- Select Edit with AI on the template card.
- Enter a prompt describing the design you want.
- Let Canva AI generate the design.
From the Brand tab
You can use Edit with AI with your Brand Templates
- Open a design in the Canva editor.
- Go to the Brand tab.
- Find a Brand Template.
- Select Edit with AI on the template card.
- Enter a prompt describing the design you want.
- Let Canva AI generate the design.
Remix a private design from Projects
You can remix a private design you've already created.
- From the Canva homepage, go to Projects.
- Find the private design you want to remix.
- Select Edit with AI on the design card. Enter a prompt describing the design you want to generate, then let Canva AI generate the design based on your template selection and prompt.
Fix Edit with AI issues
Can't find the Edit with AI button? Check that you're working on a supported design type. The button appears for presentations, social media, and print designs only.
Design doesn't look the way you want? Edit with AI looks at the template you choose for style and uses your prompt to decide what to include. Try adding more detail to your prompt. You can also attach a document like a PDF or Word file to give Canva AI more context. After generating, you can continue editing the design in the editor.
What can I use Canva AI presentations for?
Canva AI lets you generate a presentation from a text prompt quickly. Start by typing what you’re looking for, wait for Canva AI to generate a selection of templates, and choose one of you like the best.
Can I control who in my team has access to Canva AI for Presentations?
If you’re an admin, teacher, or brand designer, you can choose who can access Canva AI for Presentations in your team or class. Depending on the language set in Canva, some team members may not have access to Canva AI for Presentation, even if it’s enabled.
