Change access to Magic and AI features
Admins on Canva Teams and Canva Business have control over access to AI features for their members.
Canva Teams is no longer available for new sign-ups or upgrades. The information related to Teams on this page only applies to existing Canva Teams subscribers.

Access controls are only available to Canva Teams, Canva Business, Canva Enterprise, and Canva Education owners and admins.

Default access to Magic and AI features
- Canva Teams or Canva Business: Magic features are enabled for all team members by default.
- Canva Education Accounts: Only administrators and teachers have access by default. Magic Media, Dream Lab, and Magic Insights are the only features enabled for students.
Manage access to Magic and AI features
- On the homepage, select your Profile icon.
- Select Settings.
- Under Controls and permissions, select Permissions.
- Go to the Magic and AI.
- Choose who can access these features:
On-brand design generation and Brand Kits
If your team uses Brand Kits and Brand Templates, some AI experiences can use your brand context to create more on-brand results.
To turn on-brand design generation on or off for your team, make sure you review these permissions:
- Magic Design (controls the model used for generating designs)
- Canva AI (controls the entry points to AI experiences)
If either permission is turned off, team members can still design manually using Brand Kits and Brand Templates, but they may not be able to generate new on-brand designs with AI.
Review how Magic and AI settings apply to designs
- Applies to new designs: Changes affect new designs. For existing designs, Magic features remain available if they’ve already been used.
- Help Assistant:
- If enabled: Offers design advice and Canva-related help.
- If disabled: Provides Canva-related help only.
- Availability: Magic and AI features may depend on language and region. Some users may not have access even if features are enabled.
Use Canva AI tools in Affinity
If you have a Canva premium plan, you can use Canva’s AI tools in Affinity and add them to any of your studios, including options like Generative Fill and Image Generation.
Canva Education accounts: Only admins and teachers currently have access to Canva AI tools inside Affinity. We’ll be working to provide more controls for admins to turn AI access on or off for their students in the future.
