Magic Write is an AI-enabled writing assistant that empowers anyone to quickly create written content. You can use it for social posts, business plans, websites, blogs, poems, journaling, creative writing, presentation notes, and so much more. It can generate sentences, paragraphs, lists, outlines, and more based on the text prompt you enter.

How do I use Magic Write?

You can use Magic Write in various ways. You can generate text from prompts or existing texts within your design. You can also generate presentation notes and generate data for Canva Sheets.

What can I use Magic Write for?

You can use Magic Write to write content from a simple text prompt in seconds. Type what you're looking for and watch as a blog post or cover letter appears on the page. It lets you move straight from an idea to editing which cuts down your writing time.

Brainstorm new ideas

Know what you want to write about but struggling to get started? Use Magic Write to write a blog, brainstorm ideas, outline a business strategy, start a marketing plan, write a social media post, an email, or anything in between.

What languages does Magic Write support?

Magic Write supports text in English, Spanish, Portuguese, Indonesian, French, Thai, Italian, Arabic, Japanese, Turkish, German, Vietnamese, multiple forms of Chinese (Simplified, Traditional, and Hong Kong), Polish, Dutch, Korean, Malay, and Tagalog, as well as many other languages for a total of 103 supported languages. These align with the languages available in the Canva interface.

Can I control who in my team has access to Magic Write?

If you’re a team admin, teacher, or brand designer, you can choose who can access Magic Write in your team or class. Depending on the language set in Canva, some team members may not have access to Magic Write even if it’s enabled. Learn how to change your teams’ access to Magic Features.

What are the limitations of Magic Write?


  • It only uses data and information up to mid-2021. This means that some of the generated text might contain outdated information.
  • It only takes instruction from the text you entered or used in the document. The more context and instruction you give, the better your result.
  • It might generate text that isn't accurate or unique.
  • It has a 1500-word input limit and around a 2000-word output limit. This means that generated text might get cut off mid-sentence.
  • Canva Education administrators and teachers can enable Magic Write for students. Learn how to change access to Magic and AI features.

Always use your best judgment and be a good human when using and sharing content generated by Magic Write.
