Use Magic Write to generate text


You can use Magic Write to generate copy from a text prompt or by using existing text in your document.

Generate from a text prompt

  1. Create or open an existing design.
  2. Select
    (Quick actions), then select
    Magic Write from the list. You can also type / to open the Quick actions shortcut.
  3. Enter the text you want to generate.
  4. Select the purple arrow to generate your text.
  5. To stop generating text, select Stop generation or press Esc on your keyboard.
  6. Select More like this to generate a similar result, or This but… to enter additional instructions and refine the result. To enter additional instructions and refine the result. Use the

  7. Select Insert to input the generated text on the design or
    to copy the generated text.

Generate from existing text

  1. In the editor, right-click the text you want to generate from, or select the
    icon.
  2. Select
    Magic Write from the toolbar that appears.
  3. Choose one of the following options:
    • Transform text
    • Rewrite
    • Fix Spelling
    • Continue writing
    • Shorten
    • More fun
    • More formal
    • Change voice: Choose from More fun, More Formal, Sprinkle Fairy dust, or your saved tone of voice. Learn more about Creating your own writing style using Magic Write
    • Generate quiz
    • Generate AI voice
  4. Wait for your text to be processed.
  5. To stop generating text, select Stop generation or press Esc on your keyboard. You can also wait until the generation is complete.
  6. Select More like this to generate a similar result, or This but… to enter additional instructions and refine the result. Use the
    and
    chevrons compare results.
  7. Once done, select Replace, Add below, or
    to copy the generated text.

Generate Presentation Notes

  1. Open an existing presentation or create a new one.
  2. On the editor, select
    Notes.
  3. Select
    Generate notes.
  4. Select between
    Using page content or
    Custom prompt. By selecting Using page content, Magic Write will create notes based on the presentation’s content. By selecting Custom prompt, you can type your own prompt for Magic Write.
  5. Wait for Magic Write to generate the notes. Once generated, you have the option to
    Improve notes select
    Actions, then choose one of the following options:
    • Continue notes: Adds more details and additional information to the generated notes
    • Shorten notes: Summarises the generated notes to be more concise
    • Rewrite: Rewrites the generated notes
    • More fun: Rewrites the generated notes to have a more fun and casual tone
    • More formal: Rewrites the generated notes to be more formal and fit for business presentation

Shorten is the New Summarize. We've renamed Summarize to Shorten and introduced Create Summary, which uses AI to summarize content from selected elements like shapes, lines, arrows, sticky notes, and text.

Currently, names can't be excluded from summaries, but we're looking into it based on your feedback. Since AI summaries may vary in length and detail, we’d love to hear your thoughts in an upcoming survey to help us improve!
