Can't connect my social media account

Some Canva features require connecting your social media accounts. If you run into issues doing this, here are the most common reasons.

About connected social media accounts and permissions

Some account connection and authentication flows are managed by third-party platforms, so available permissions, login requirements, and connection options may vary between apps and change over time.

To manage or check connected accounts:

  • Open Share from the Canva editor to view available publishing and social media options.
  • Open Content Planner to manage scheduled publishing connections.
  • Open Account settings to manage connected accounts and permissions.

See these help pages to learn how:

This list is not complete, and available apps may change over time.

After that’s done, make sure to also unlink the social media account from the old Canva account’s settings.

If you deleted the old account, it takes 14 days to finish. Its social media connections will also be removed after 14 days.

Finally, try to connect the social media account to your new Canva account again by sharing a design. If you’re trying to schedule posts on the Content Planner, you can do it from there.

Canva account already connected to another social media account

As a Canva Free user, you can only link to one account per social media platform. If you want to switch social media accounts, unlink your current account and connect a new one.

Connecting to multiple social media accounts is only available to Canva Pro, Canva Teams, and Canva for Nonprofits users.

You signed up to Canva via Facebook or Google

If your Facebook or Google account was used to sign up for another Canva account, unlink it there first. Follow these steps:

Step 1: Set up an alternative login method

  1. Log in to Canva using the Facebook or Google account you’re trying to connect.
  2. On the homepage, click your profile icon, then select
    Settings.
  3. Select Your profile, add an email address. You can skip this step if you already have one.
  4. From the side menu, click
    Login.
  5. Add a password. You’ll be asked to log in again using the email and password you’ve set up.
  1. On the homepage, click your profile icon, then select
    Settings.
  2. Under Your profile, go to Connected social accounts, look for your Facebook or Google account and click Disconnect. A confirmation message will appear.
  3. Click Disconnect.

After unlinking your Facebook or Google account, try to connect it again to your preferred Canva account.

Unverified Facebook account or outdated login details

This is the case when you get the message, “The email address for this Facebook account is unverified” when trying to connect your Facebook account to Canva. Here are some things you can try to fix this:

  • Confirm the Facebook account that you’re trying to connect to Canva by verifying its registered email address.
  • Reset the connection to Canva. Disconnect your Facebook account from Canva, and try to connect it again.
  • Sign in to Facebook again to refresh your login. Log out of your Facebook and Canva accounts. Log in to Canva using Facebook, and enter your Facebook login details to continue.
  • Clear your browser history, or try to use a different browser.

Your account is under Canva Education and publishing to social media is disabled.

Publishing to Social media apps is automatically turned off for Canva Education. Contact your admin to enable publishing.
