Connect Canva to Blackboard

After you get Canva Education for your school, you can connect it to Blackboard so teachers and students can access Canva from their courses. This guide covers how to enable learning management system (LMS) integration, choose between LTI 1.3 or LTI 1.1, configure Blackboard, and create placements.

Prepare your Canva account

You’ll need to enable LMS integration from your Canva account before you can connect to Blackboard.

  • If you haven’t done this yet, refer to Connecting Canva to LMS.
  • Decide whether you’re setting up LTI 1.3 (recommended) or LTI 1.1, then follow the matching steps below.

Confirm you're in the correct Canva team

Before setting up the LMS integration, make sure you’re in the right team.

  • For single schools or district Canva teams, check if you’re in the school or district team.
  • For multi-school deployment, check if you’re in the “IT/Admin” managing team.

Why did my “class” change to a school team?

Canva Education is moving toward a more consistent School team setup. If your team was previously shown as a Class, it may now appear as a School team. Your designs, folders, shared content, and team membership stay the same. Only some names and settings may look different.

Will I lose any content or access if my team experience changes?

No. Your designs, folders, shared content, and memberships are preserved.

How do I make my school team publicly discoverable

You can update your team settings to allow other teachers at your school to find and request to join your team. For step-by-step instructions, see School teams on Canva.

Connected account limits depend on your Canva Education setup. You might be limited to one connected account per platform. If you previously connected multiple accounts, you may still see them. If you remove a connected account, you might not be able to add it again because of current limits.
