Create and manage business proposals in Canva Docs

A business proposal is a document used to pitch products, services, or partnerships to potential clients or stakeholders. In an enterprise setting, these proposals are key to winning new business, securing project approvals, and aligning teams on a shared strategy.

Canva Docs lets you build responsive proposals with interactive elements like videos and live charts, so your pitch looks great on both desktop and mobile.

Key terms

  • Executive summary: A short section that highlights the proposal’s goals and value.
  • Scope of work: A breakdown of tasks, deliverables, and timelines.
  • Call to action (CTA): A clear next step, like “Sign here” or “Schedule a meeting.”
  • Interactive elements: Embedded videos, links, or live data charts.

Create a business proposal

  1. Go to
    Home.
  2. Select
Create a design, then choose Doc.
  3. Open the
    Design tab.

  • Version History: Go to File, then click
Version history to track and restore edits.

When to build a business proposal on desktop vs. mobile

  • Desktop: Best for setup and formatting. Tools like rulers and margins are only available here.
  • Mobile app: Best for quick edits or reviews. Use pinch-to-zoom for easier viewing.

Notes and limitations

  • You can export your proposal as a PDF Standard, PDF Print, or .DOCX file.
  • If you import a PDF, some fonts may be replaced if not available in the library.

Troubleshooting

  • Can’t edit text in your imported proposal? The text may be flattened into an image. Delete the image, then add a new text box.
  • Brand Kit not showing? Make sure you're signed in to an Enterprise or Team account. Brand Kits aren’t available in personal or free workspaces.
