Manage Brand Template design approval settings
Brand Template approval lets you control who can publish or download designs made from specific templates. Use it to maintain design quality and keep everything on-brand.
Design approval settings are available for Canva Teams and Canva Enterprise. Before you can manage approval settings for individual Brand Templates, design approvals must be enabled for your team. To learn how, see Setting up design approval for organisations
When you enable one of the Brand Template approval settings, a confirmation window lets you choose whether to apply approval requirements to all existing Brand Templates.
Once enabled, you or other team administrators can apply approval requirements to specific Brand Templates during publishing. Learn more about approval settings in Canva.
Manage brand template design approval settings
- From the homepage side panel, select Brand.
- Go to the All Brand Templates tab.
- Select the Brand Template you’d like to apply design approval conditions to.
- Select More icon.
- Select Edit Brand Template. This will redirect you to the Canva editor.
- From the editor menu bar, select Republish with changes.
- In the Republish with changes panel, tick the following:
- Send notification
- Allow design approval requests for designs created from this Brand Template
- Select Publish and close.
Members who require approval will now be required to seek approval on designs created from this template before being able to download or publish the design.
Tip: You can also apply template locks to control which parts of a Brand Template can be edited. This helps maintain brand consistency and reduces time spent reviewing changes.
